Prices of AM stations

Since 2000, let's see what I can remember:

2000 - WNOP sold for $550,000.

2006: WCVG sold for $1.9 million

2009: WCIN sold for $600,000.

Who got screwed in these deals?

That'd be sweet if they could land 1360...somehow I bet that their interest is well known in the CC halls. Too bad CC wasn't forced to divest an AM.

Or the DJO folks could purchase 1160 for more than what they paid for 1480 probably. Any idea on what it would sell for?

Dick Plessinger told me before he died in 2006, that their agreement was for a purchase price of $3 million after three years.

NOT ;D

I hope you are right, but the WDJO people hate working with "the christians". They have been looking for a way out of that deal for as long as they have been on the air. If the station lease is up soon and they have another AM property, chances are they are moving the format.

My source tells me that WCIN 1480 will stay Jazz and WDJO 1160 will stay Oldies. Why should anyone believe otherwise? I'm told to bank on it.

The bold part is the misinformed part....Not even close.

Your source is a very smart one.....

Bigley and DarkSoldier are the only ones talkin' any sense on here. The speculation on here is so far off and uninformed, like MoneyMaker's comments. Hey bud, you wont make any money talkin crap like that.

It's not misinformation, it's speculation based on what I know as fact, which are the two statements. As I said, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. Puff's comment about being far off and uninformed is the misinformation. There will be a change.

moneymaker...

love your cryptic messages!! :D :D :D :D :D

What's the "change" gonna be? You seem to be in the "know" with christianity!!!

From what I have heard, the transmitter for 1360 has been grossly neglected since the 70s. In my car, I can hear 1160 clearly on the car radio with no trouble even driving out near Oxford (I live in Ft Mitchell), with 1360 that sound disappears very quick as you drive away from the downtown area, 1360 has too much static and is hardly listenable. As far as a frequency, 1160 is best for me, although I can see the sentimental value that the 1360 frequency has to some people.
