Primestar Lineup.1995

I just happen to have the Sept/Oct 1996 Satellite Times magazine which includes the Primestar lineup among its satellite listings. Too much to retype; is there something specific you wanted to know?

I can post a scan of the page with the listing, but can’t get to that right now.

(I assume such a scan would fall under “fair use” considerations as it is just repeating Primestar’s own publically available information at the time.)

I just would like to see the lineup from December 1995 because that is the first year Prime star was installed at my grandmother's house. She got it for me for Christmas. Because she only got two channels three if you count PBS. she lived in the boondocks in Southeast Alabama. I was nine years old.

Prime star-that takes me back. My parents had Primestar, but switched to Dish after they saw how much my wife and I enjoyed their offerings and quality.

We had Prime star for five years until it got absorbed into Directv. A pre-Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe did infomercials for them. You can barely recognize him as he looked different in a buttoned up shirt and slacks.

That same issue of Satellite Times also referenced the launch of the AlphaStar satellite service, but stated the channel listings were not available at press time. AlphaStar was a third entry into the “small dish” DSS market along with Dish Network and the DirecTV/USSB combo. AlphaStar only lasted a little over a year; channel choice was apparently quite limited…would love to see its lineup.

Edit to add: Didn’t realize that Satellite Times is on the World Radio History site: SATELLITE TIMES: Satellite frequency reception

You can search through that for old satellite listings.
