PRO fm IS AWESOMe

> Pro fm is awsome.don't you think

You've been posting across the board from Frisco to New England. Are you hitchhiking with a walkman? Since I doubt you've ever even heard the station, they're not awesome. They're not bad. They're not good. They're there.

The award for "Post That Brought Nothing To The Table" goes to...

Any word on Pro's night position? And has anyone heard Fun107's new weekenders...and any word on Pro's night position? Nothing? How about now? Still nothing? OK then.

I think Ashley Taylor is permanent there ... I don't think they're actively looking for anyone else -- plus she's got her own liners and promos now ...

Seeems like you have a useless comment about every CHR station in the country, on every board. Either that or you say how a station should flip to CHR.

Isn't this considered some kind of spam on these boards?

PRO FM is AWFUL, FUN 107 is AWESOME

> Pro fm is awsome.don't you think

PRO FM plays WAY TOO MUCH ROCK. Fun 107 is lively and upbeat with dance, R&B, and some rap, but no rock music. We already have 94 HJY and 95.5 WBRU. We don't need another station playing rock in Providence.
______________

Are you Tony Bristol's daughter?

Sorry but I cannot agree that Ashley was the best available for that job.She sounds like one of those college students brought in to read lottery numbers on TV.If PRO-FM had not advertised twice and worded the ads like they were looking for the second coming of Tyler the result wouldn't be so disappointing.

Re: PRO FM is AWFUL, FUN 107 is AWESOME

Fun 107 plays way too much rap/hip hop. If I wanted to hear that gangsta rap ebonics garbage, I would turn on Hot 106. Fun 107 is supposed to be formatted like Q102 in Philadelphia and not like 94.5 in Boston. But then again, Q102 in Philly seems to be playing alot of rap in the past few months. We don't need more then one station in this area playing rap/hip hop. It's overkill. Also, it's overkill for Philly to have 3 stations playing gangsta rap/hip hop garbage.

They play more hip-hop because there is no hip-hop station that reaches New Bedford and Fall River with a clear signal. Maybe Jam'n 94.5 at best with a fair signal but forget about Hot 106. They barely reach all of Providence.

I like Fun 107 because outside of the hip-hop, they play what PRO FM and Hot 106 do not-lots of dance and r&b music.
______________

Simple programming: Your audience is Fall River and New Bedford, mainly. Big Portuguese listenership. Cater to them.

The station is officially 'deemed' a CHR/Rhythmic anyways...so I think it is doing just fine. Doesn't have a Rhythmic name...but it is what it is...and the ratings aren't too shabby!

There was definetly a time that PRO FM was a hugeeee radio station. As for the way it sounds right now, it sounds awful. Tony Bristol is a great guy and sounds bad ass on the radio, but he's the only talent that place has. The morning show isnt half bad, but the rest is not top 50 market material.

You are wrong my friend. FUN 107 doesnt play too much Rap. It is the way top 40 is swinging currently, to the rythmic side. FUN 107 place more dance than any other station in surrounding markets and they offset it with the typical top 40/mainstream format. If you look at Top 40 mainstream top 30 right now you will see that 12 of the 30 tracks are rhythmic with more and more crossing over everyday. FUN 107 is just trying to fit the format. I will give you this... they play more rap and r&B then they ever have, for sure. But again, it's the way things are crossing over that causes this.

Overkill is an understatement.

And it's actually four stations if you include Q102 (the other three being Power 99, 100.3 The Beat, and Wired 96.5). There are others if you count the weaker signals to the city.

Yes, overkill indeed.
______________

ahh,,brings me back in time..to Magic Mark...TJ Napp, Tony Mascaro, Al Levine, Gio..it was fun

Re: PRO FM is AWFUL, FUN 107 is AWESOME

why in the world are we taking about Philly when this is a Providence board

As in Chris Tyler? :)

I agree...the standards for the night show should be elevated.

I actually count 5 - Q102, Power 99, 100.3 The Beat, Wired 96.5 and 94-5 PST.

Bottom line is that no matter what market you go to, the definitive lines between formats are becoming very blurred. CHR is not the same format it was 5 years ago. Some would argue that it's not the same as it was just a few years ago. CHR and Urban has more overlap now that it ever has.
