PRO-FM's next 5 years

First of all I'm one of the ones who thinks PRO-FM sounds pretty good so this isn't a criticism but from what I know the staff is all at least in their early 30s and Giovanni is about 50. I don't think age is as much of a factor in the morning but at what point do you think the staff is going to have to seriously look at leaving? Most CHR stations do have younger staffs. I was going to ask about PRO-FM's next 10 years but anybody making 10 year plans in radio is deluded anyway so I limited it to 5 years.

While I agree with your premise about aging air-staffs on CHR stations, I do not agree about PRO-FM's sound. They are a shell of what they once were. But that is an argument for another time.

Ultimately, as the radio industry continues to succumb to the bottom line, Citadel will bring its costs into line with Clear Channel's. They will have to in order to stay competitive. Besides Kerry Collins, PRO-FM has a veteran airstaff that probably makes more money, on average, than comparable Citadel staffs. Tony Bristol has been PD for nearly nine years and previously worked at PRO-FM for close to 15. Davey Morris and Tanya Cruise have been on the air since the early 1990s. Giovanni, if I am not mistaken, goes back to the mid-1970s on PRO-FM. In five years, I would not be surprised to see at least half of these names gone and replaced by younger (read cheaper) talent.

J-Buff will probably have an airshift if he stays in the area.

Makes sense. I think he's the only weekender and is a good one. Still I think it isn't unheard of for Boston stations to put people on the air with less experience now there's a shot he could land something there eventually. Not that weekending at PRO-FM means less experience but you know what I mean.
