PRO TOOLS INTERRUPT HELP

Can anyone either assist me, or direct me to a website or human that can, with Pro Tools interrupts? During recording, playback or even bouncing I get error messages saying that it couldn't hold off the interrupts any longer. It suggests changing the buffer setting but that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks for any ideas.

The DUC is about the only place you're going to get help.

And you're running into one of THE most common problems with ProTools.

I hate it...it drives me bat-s**t insane when it happens.

I have a dual Intel Macbook for when I travel...and I use the USB MBox Mini when I'm on the road.

And as fast as this sucker is, I STILL get interrupt problems.

There's a whole HOST of things to do to help...there's a couple of checklists of things that you need to do to your computer to help keep the interrupts to a minimum.

Good luck...it STILL keeps happening to me.

Thanks for the help, guys. There's a lot of stuff to go through there, so I'll check back with you in December.

FWIW.. my interrupts stopped when i started using a new, faster external hard drive. When i switched back to old internal, the interrupts started again.

Ditto a friend of mine who has a Mac Mini G4 and M-box. He was having this problem and I suggested he record his audio to an external FW drive. The interrupts stopped.

As a rule, any application that edits streaming content (like video and audio), the content is best streamed from a drive different from the one the app and OS reside on.

So if you have a Mac Mini or Mac Book, get a portable, external drive for storing and editing your content.

Right on track. When setting up a prod room computer (or personal)..it's wise to separate the entities. Operating system etc on one hard drive..production on another (internal or external). Great advice!
