Probably Never Gonna Happen But Nassau Should...

Nassau should move 99.9 The Hawk into Trenton New Jersey, where the old Hawk Was.

they should change it to Classic Rock instead of Classic Hits, or leave it the same, either way.

this would actually make sense, because nassau launched Frank-FM, and it covers just about the same area, so 99.9 and 107.5 are just competing against eachother, and theyre owned by the same company, so it would make sense for them to move 99.9 to Trenton, so it can serve trenton, burlington and philadelphia. just like 97.5 did, also it would be AWSOME if they would put the free beer and hotwings show on as well.

and if im not mistaken, the move will not interfere with any other channel (not that i know of at least), also, people will still be able to receive the station in Allentown. so this way, everybody wins.

this idea, just dawned on me.

what do you guys think?

>and if im not mistaken, the move will not interfere with any other channel (not that i know of at least)

Even if the station was lowered to a small class A facility, it would need to be 43 miles from second adjacent WPHI. Trenton is only about 28 miles from there. I'm pretty sure there isn't a grandfathering clause here.

It won't fit co-channel Class B to B 99.9 WWFG in Ocean City MD (formerly one of the last great Top 40 stations I liked.."100 KHI"

oh, so i guess there is no way of doing this at all. unless they moved to 99.7, but oh well.

and it wouldnt make sense to move to class A, having them in allentown at a class B would be better than having them in trenton at a class A

99.7 would be 3rd adjacent to 99.1 WAWZ at least and you run into the same problem. (Second and third adjacents have the same spacing requirements for some dumb reason.)

If there was a way to do something like that easily it would have been done by now I'm sure. Those kinds of upgrades generally require a whole ballet of movements to get what you want. The FCC has clamped down on the larger choreographies. Some of them have involved moving a dozen station or more. It's really wild to read the proposals.
.

No, the mileage seperation shortens with each adjacency.

In SJ, there's 98.1 in Lafayette Hills/Roxborough, with a 62 mile seperation of transmitters for 98.3 in Ocean City (new rules=65 miles). 98.5 is broadcasting less than 30 miles away in Manahawkin, and 98.7, whose xmtr is in Wildwood, is happily co-exisiting with 98.3 seperated by about 15 miles. Also 96.9 and 97.3, both 50kw, are just about 15-20 miles apart.

Other than some pre-1964 grandfathered arrangements, like 103.7 in Atlantic City and Havre d'Grace MD, it's the co-channel that's deal breaker.

The move wouldn't make since in the first place since The Hawk is doing well enough serving the Lehigh Valley.

And I personally prefer 'classic hits' over 'classic rock'.

Well since Kevin doesn't like the idea, I guess we should say "F" it!!

I'll let that stand alone...anyway I too am bummed about the loss of 97.5, WTHK, but time DOES indeed heal most, if not ALL wounds. Atleast where I live Q-104.3 has been progressively expanding the library but... it's still not the same for multiple reasons...

Also I know you (eyg2181) are a BIG Fan of Millenium's 1057 The Hawk so I would stick with them. It's basically the same tunes just a L A R G E R variety than the old 97.5, minus "Triple Shot Thursday" and they are the ONLY area station with FB&HW. They're what I mainly listen to on my PC at work since I can't get a good signal.

And as another Poster pointed out, 99.9 The Hawk has pretty damn impressive numbers in the Lehigh Valley pulling in just under a double-share. So the old adage definitely applies... "If it ain't broke DON'T fix it!"

Just my Friday 5 Cents Worth...

yea, 105.7 is great, just ashame the signal isnt a tad bit stronger, but it comes in like a local in levittown, so im good.

i just cant take 102.9. drives me madd

Now THERE'S A PRODUCTIVE POST... Simple and To The RIDICULOUS Point!! Thanks for the input. It's great people like you that support the cause here and make this the WONDERFUL and UNBIASED Board that it is! ;)

Shouldn't you go back to defending G-ROCK??

I was just stating the facts, which is that 99.9 The Hawk is doing very well in the Lehigh Valley. The move wouldn't make sense.

::)
