Problem Upgrading Stations at Senior Road Tower Site?

KRBE 104.1 filed an extension to their Engineering STA on December 15th, 2005. This is from Exhibit 24 of KRBE's request.

Exhibit 24
Description: Extension of Reduced Power STA - KRBE - Exh 24

Request is for extension of Current STA to operate station KRBE(FM), Houston TX (FID 35524) with reduced power at auxiliary facilities specified in CP BXPH-20050815AAI. Main antenna of KRBE was removed beginning 09/03/2005 and replacement project is expected to take an additional 60-90 days.

END

Is this a problem that KRBE is having or is the entire upgrade of stations to the tower going to be another couple of months?

Don't know...I thought they were ready to go. Nevertheless, I'll ask around. I know a couple of folks that would be in a position to know.

Yes, KKBQ 92.9; KTBZ-FM 94.5; KHJZ 95.7; KHMX 96.5; KBXX 97.9 KODA 99.1; KILT-FM 100.3; Mega 101; and KRBE 104.1 are all on the same tower.

Thanks for checking Texas Tuner.

Why do they half to do this every year? I never understood that, I dont recall San antonio or Austin having to take there main towers offline once a year for changing out the inner line?

Does San Antonio or Austin have a master antenna as at Senior Road where 9 stations feed into the same antenna? That's a lot of RF into one line.
______________

This is a big deal...replacing the antenna, line and combiner all at the same time. I have also been told by a source close to the action that ERI is finishing up its work, and testing on the new IBOC installation could start as early as this weekend, barring any unforseen difficulties.

I think one of the towers in San antonio has 6 feeds through it
______________
