Problem with Windows Audio Encoder

Folks,

I'm wondering whether anyone has a solution for a problem I'm having with our Windows audio encoder (series 9). We stream local talk 24hrs each day, about 5 days a week.

The problem is that the encoder randomly stops encoding. The program does not close; instead, it stops encoding, similar to clicking on "stop encoding." We start encoding once again by simply clicking the "start encoding."

Anyone know what would be causing this?

Thanks!

Thanks..

I guess it could be losing sync with the data; however, how would I discover that to be true or even correct the problem? I believe the CPU usage is low because this program basically runs by itself on its own machine..

The clue here is the machine in question has been running 24/7. Now, remember this time of year we get power surges, even with protection you may still have corrupted software in programs running. Another issue could be the computer itself, Dell and Gateway computers seem to self destruct after so many hours of use. I would suggest doing a clean re-install of the software first, perhaps even running the program on your spare computer and see if it's a hardware problem. Even static electricity can corrupt a program while it is running. I have had this happen to me, use static free mats and ground bars near mouse, keyboards and computer.
Another issue I would look into is the stability of your network connection. Perhaps noise on the line or an interruption could cause the system to hang without auto-reconnecting.
Let me know how it works out.

I think the problem is solved. I believe the machine was going into hibernation.

I adjusted some of the power saving features, and now everything seems to work.

I'm going, however, to trade out the machine for one with more RAM and a faster CPU.

THANKS!

What should be done regardless of CPU speed is setting the priority for wmenc.exe in task manager to above normal so that any spikes don't take out the encoder. Microsoft had a little patch for an issue like this but it fixes nothing, the only thing I found working was setting priority high and it has to be done each time the program is restarted.
