processing for production room

How about sharing a few ideas/experiences with production room processing at the stereo output stage before a DA...
The term over easy applies more here than brick wall...
We use AT2020's for voice...
suggestions?

thanks

bob

Over Easy is good for production. You don't want to over-process. It's important that the Production people keep a close eye on their levels.
Even the best processor is a poor substitute for proper levels.
Too much processing in the production room will sound bad when it hits the air.

I'd run everything through an Aphex Compellor before it hit the on-air processing.
Or, an ART Pro VLA if you have a tight budget.

Tell your prod people what level standard you want for pre-rercorded files. Peaks at -3db for example in your software editor.

Look for a Aphex Compellor on EBay. The price is right enough and it's the best cost-effective device for your job at hand. If you have bags of money to throw at it, a nice Ariane Sequel would be primo.
