Can we get some discussion in regards to Harrisburg & surrounding area processing? I spent a little time in the area recently and sampled both analog and HD stations.
I thought Wink's was very well balanced and had a real good sounding bottom end. Sounded like an Omnia. My only issue with Wink is they have no data scrolling. They REALLY need to get that up and running.
The River sounds positively glorious in HD and had a wide open, uncompressed sound that left nothing to be desired. Probably my favorite of all that I sampled. Anybody know what they're using? 8500? The River's artist/title works very well.
WARM sounds very good as well, but not quite as pronounced as the above 2. Seeing as they're an AC, I suppose that's a good thing as there was nothing whatsoever that would fatigue a listener. What are these guys using? Orban? Also, WARM's data scrolls nicely.
Hot 92, speaking strictly of the processing here, sounded quite good IMO given it's limited coverage. If I had to dial in a CHR I think that's just about right where I'd have it. This, too, sounds like an Omnia.
WITF's HD experience was probably the most disappointing. They have several issues, including:
The analog/HD timing is off, and I mean noticeably off. Considering how easy it is to line that up, that's sad. Also, the analog/HD processing seems wildly different. When Wink and The River blend from one to the other, they sound very similar. Not on ITF - you REALLY hear a difference between the 2. And, WITF's data is pretty lame...they just scroll WITF 89.5 HARRISBURG and that's it.
