prodcuer?

Check 'tab.org'. The job bank has a listing for 'KRLD PRODCUER'.
What duties would being a Prodcuer involve? "Jay and Ernie are getting stale... cue the prod!" (zap-zap)

KRLD Producer translated: Board Op

What's wrong with Board Ops? It gives me a chance to eat a whole box of cheeze-its :D

Grant a"prodcuer" is a ranch hand using cattle Prods to"cue" livestock in their pens. KRLD may feel a need for a ranch hand to keep staff Like Ernie and Jay in their "pen",or perhaps they will start doing Farm and Ranch reports at noon.;)

Just wait until baseball season picks up again in 2007. You’ll have two ‘Ranger” reports, one for the baseball team and one for the law enforcement agency. Not long after, they’ll start doing rodeo reporting with traffic and weather? ???

I wonder if a “poor board op” can handle such a hectic load. He may have to leave the girlie magazines at home. :( :'(

I used to work for KRLD back in the mid-90's, and I have you know my title was "technical producer"... LOL

They're called "Technical Operators" now. And no, KRLD Producer translated is NOT board op. They're two different positions with different responsibilities. The producer of the mid-day show at KRLD busts their butt trying to make that show as good as possible, it's sad that they don't have better stuff to work with.

And while we're talkin about Board Ops., let me say this: It's just wrong how much board ops get dumped on. There are a lot of really good ones out there who work hard and make it a point to make sure everything sounds good when they're at the helm. Granted, there's a lot of bad ones out there too, working part-time just for the heck of it so they can say they work in radio. But think about this, if you were the lowest paid, least respected person in the building, would you do the best job possible?

I think not ...

I think a lot of the fun we’re having slamming boards ops, is in jest. I myself was a board op for practically a full decade. Mind you it was a part-time gig, that was paying somewhere around $8 / hour. Yes I worked my share of crazy shifts in those days, everything from a weekend with no power in the building to the Y2K scare. I don’t regret any of it, and I was (still am) darn proud of my accomplishments.

So have one for the board ops!

Yes I would...and did.

Keep in mind too, that in the early early days of radio(with some lasting into the early 70's) some stations employed "engineers",which essentially were the same calibre as board ops today. Many well known names owe their success to board ops, producers, and engineers.

One of the best full service jocks was a board op for years. Jimmy Carter/WBAP i think his name was.

Gee, I wonder who the candidates for the "prodcuer" opening will interview with, considering the guy who used to be in charge of such things was sent packing quite recently?

Producers don't interview with Byron, Board Ops. did. Operative word being "Did."

I'm sure you can take it from there.

Are you thinking about Jimmy Stewart?

Hey, I didn't send him packing to the beach, management did that ... he got mowed down by Spittle in Russ' Batmobile.

Problem: crappy midday ratings.

Cause: the five-hour bitch and moan session you air from 10-3 five days a week.

Solution: [EDIT]the technical director.

atta boy Gavin.
