PRODUCTION OPENING AT CC PROVIDENCE

From the employment link on CC Providence websites:
Commercial and imaging production for 2 stations of a four station group; Mainstream
Rock; AC; Classic Hits; News Talk

Doesn't say which 2 stations.Didn't Jamie Harrington go to CC from Cat Country for production and Chris Eagan come off the air at Coast for production duties?Someone gone or leaving?

Might not have happened if they hadn't taken him off the air but I'm surprised he isn't leaving for another on air job.

Things must be bad there if someone from on air/ programming is leaving to go do sales. That's a shame!

Would they ask Doug Palmieri (sp?) to come back? Maybe he's working somewhere else by now? I dunno

Yeah they can call Palmieri and tell him to come on back and bring the missus. Maybe they found some money.
As far as Eagan I hope he's not doing this just as a spite move. You don't leave a job to get away from one place. You leave it to get to another where you really wanna be.

A lot of the good paying jobs at a radio station are in the sales department. I'm sure Chris is making more sitting behind a desk at WKLB as opposed to being on the air. Too bad because he was a great on-air talent. Hopefully he'll keep a weekend shift somewhere.

Whatever happened to Jim McKenna? I thought he was doing production for the cluster. Then again, it's been over 2 years since I last checked.

Jim left around the same time as Bill Hess to the same cluster in DC. Still there according to the email list. He was great to work with, he helped me get a lot of outside voiceover gigs.

Not necessarily.

I don't know the person involved but I do know several one-time air personallities who had a natural gift for sales and finally realized it. They've multiplied many times the best money they could ever have made in radio even though they were good on the air. They weren't of a a talent that lent itself to big bucks in the biggest markets. An extra is that some, who really also enjoyed air-work, do various weekend and fill-in things just for the fun of it.

To feel forced into sales.....no....not going to come to any good end. But to fail to capitalize on a natural talent is far worse.

Hey "outawork." Nice to see ya signed up to make that first post count. You oughta fit in well here. My opinion is that Jim McKenna is one of the nicest, most competent radio guys out there. Oh yeah - and he's NOT 'outawork.'

teasing...I worked w/ McKenna and he is a very nice man...I forgot how little fun you folks are. :-*

You'll soon learn that comedy doesn't translate well through text. You need to add one of those figamajig emoticons like you just did there. At least add an "LOL" at the end. Otherwise people will think you are an A-hole who's related to me. :)

Thanks, "outawork." Like others here, I didn't realize you were joking. It's a pet peeve of mine when good radio people are maligned here, by nameless people, after they've moved to other markets and can't defend themselves, so to speak. Now: you, sir, are very talented. We gotta get you "In-Work."

Hey Courtney! Good to hear from you... glad to see that you're still around! Funny... I was around when Bill left, but I don't remember Jim leaving. Who took over for him after he left?

Jim's a good guy. I never met a man who wore flip flops with slacks before... so yes, he was a dink. :)
