Production "Peer Review"

Re: Production \

Alright... I'm in.... critique away. I can take it. It can only make me better...

Demos are fairly old... except the TV promo demo.

I will say I feel more comfortable with tv promo than I do radio VO....

Re: Voicebank.net...

I joined it's companion site, Voiceregistry.net. Where... allegedlly, agents go for new talent. $200... and nothing, lol!

Voicebank.net is a great place to listen to demos. Good luck.

Ah, what the heck. I rarely get feedback.

Obviously Cate, great work. Although, I would actually lose the Red Cross read from your Commercial demo. This is nitpicky, but I think it sounds too whispery rather than heartfelt.

And Chuck, where can a guy buy a set of pipes like that?

Re: Production \

I think on his Automotive Demo, he's pretty close to the "it" sound....for that kind of read. Compared to the TV Promo demo where it sounded kind of un-natural for him.
I think vocal quality's pretty darn good, and definitely the upbeat reads are the best showcase of his work.
I agree for the most part. I thought some of the TV stuff was OK, but I did not care for the E promo The Chevy ad was perhaps my favorite the softer Toyota ad was a close second. The imaging was very amature in my opinion.

I appreciate the kind words. I'm still waiting to "grow up" into a John Wells voice :0)

Mic, pre-amp help a lot.. .416/dbx286/UREI 1176LN.. and some plugs. My buddy in Indy did the tv demo. Steve OBrien. Very talented. He tweaked me with the WAVES Renaissance plug in PT.

I know we don't always agree on everything here, but I think we will all agree that Jeff Laurence is one of the nicest guys in the biz. He is always willing to help anyone, and a talented guy too! The industry is lucky to have a guy like you. They should make one of those beer spots about you lol. I will probably hear him on one of those infomercials when I go to bed tonight.
