profanity on KPRC

Lol ok on KPRC Local 2 news at 10 they were doing a report on Vehicle burglary. Well some how something went wrong with the video and one of the producers said OH POOP MAN!

You mean when he said "oh sh!t". I watched it live as well & got a good laugh at it. I do give Bill and Dominique credit for continuing on like nothing happened though. ;D

The S-word is considered profanity in Texas?

Except when used on BBC America.

This isn't the first time that's happened here. Every so often you'll get a unintended curse that goes out over the air. Now....if you want to see a fully intended version of cursing that has aired, might I suggest googling Isaiah Carey for your viewing pleasure? That guy really knows how to rant.

Cable channels don't follow the same rules as broadcast stations. And some stations have their own zero tolerance policies regarding profanity.

What's the TV rating for News? Is news exempted from TV ratings system? Also, what time of day was this aired on KPRC? If it was after 10 PM, then it's "safe harbor" under the Communications Decency Act.

You got that right. In Amarillo back in the early '70s, KGNC's (Now KAMR) off-stage announcer (the director?) lost his cool, reacting into a hot mic to some dead air between announcements, with "SON OF A B**** !!!

I wish I could find it online, but back around 1973 actor/comedian Albert Brooks did a standup routine about being the opening act for Richie Havens in San Antonio. The crowd was hostile...until he said the "S" word. As he put it ... "Cheers, a parade, a statue in the park".

They keep changing the rules, but the last I heard, that was one of 7 words (now 6) that can not be used on BROADCAST TV or radio in this country according to the FCC, and you may be fined if it airs. The word "ass-h*le" was also one of the words, but was later dropped. NOTE: This only applies to BROADCAST, not cable TV or the internet.
