profm night opining... again

just wondering how long you think its gonna take them to replace kerry.... my guess is they will cover it off with who ever till j- buff comes home from school.... he will cover all summer and is the fall mabe they will start thinking of a perminant replacment? any thoughts

If you were the boss what would you do? knowing how pro is or would you go a different way? bring in someone new? move a weekender up? move someone up from Fun or Rose? ....any ideas of thoughts?..who would u like to see??

Surprisingly over the years, PRO-FM has never hired anyone from Fun107. I don't see any of the full timers bothering to make the move & haven't really heard any weekender other than Ron Medeiros who's already done that shift. Not really familiar with who's on The Rose. Are there any up & comers outside Providence, keeping in mind this is a night shift at a CHR?

if i were the boss... i would try and replace him asap sence kerry seemed to be doing a good job bringing an audince the the night show.... i really cant think of anyone in providence or new bedford that would take it...... im assuming its a full-time slot...... although austin sounds good.... but i dont think he wants full time

It took months and months to get Kerry on the air which is ironic since I believe he and Tony knew each other.Maybe it took that long to convince him to come over.I don't see anyone within earshot as getting this job unless there's some hot night jock I am not aware of.Just listening to all these airchecks coming in must be mind boggling especially considering many smaller market CHR djs really suck or are working the wrong format and no one has the heart to tell them.

There has to be someone from the local area who can fill this position.............

Fun 107/New Bedford:
JR, Sharon, Larry, Christine Fox, Michael Rock, J-Rod, Neal White, Ray Anthony, Scott Reiniche, Erica Kay, Ron Medeiros, Dee Dee Moniz

96.3 The Rose/Cape Cod:
Dan, Stephanie, Shannon, Dan Mahoney, Stephanie Viva, David Duran, Steve McVie

Q105/New London:
Nancy Hall, Shawn Murphy, Nick Giuliano, Kevin Palana, Double G, Scotty Rhodes, J. Luis, Monique Brook, Jason Kent, Kevin O'Connor, Erik Sweet, Erich Bachman

It isn't who can fill it. It's who wants to fill it. Describing the position partly in communicating with the audience with cell phones, e-mail, and whatever else sounds more like customer service than jocking. Not everyone really wants to deal with a nighttime CHR audience.

..ok, so out of them, who from those stations would be suitable or would be able to handle it? or is worth it? anyone...

I can name 3 off the top of my head who were hired from Fun 107....
Joe Limardi
Ashley Taylor
and, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't Ron Medeiros originally at Fun before going to Pro?

I don't know about Limardi. I know he worked at FUN107 but didn't know about PRO-FM. I don't even count Ashley as I was thinking more of someone who actually made a career move to PRO-FM & stayed a while. I think Ron worked at PRO-FM before FUN107. He did PRO-FM & Z100 then to KKB then FUN.

I could be wrong but am thinking if anyone from any other Citadel station from Fairhaven to New London is going nights at PRO-FM then he or she already knows it.

Does anyone know why it took so long to fill this position last time? It's like Tony Bristol is deliberately ****ing with everyone, LOL.

Joe didn't go straight to Pro from Fun 107- He (unceremoniously) left Fun in the mid 90s and landed at WZMX in Hartford when it took on a 70s format. It was during that time that he was doing some weekend work on Pro, as well as a weekend shift at Bertucci's.

B-Rock...I was there when he was....it was almost immediately after he left Fun that Simpson hired him at Pro

That's possible, but it wasn't like he was hired full-time at Pro. It was likely something to keep his feet wet while he was looking for a more permanent gig.

Heck, even I had forgotten that Limardi did a few shifts at Pro-FM. Good looking out.

He was doing more than a few shifts...if memory serves me correct, it was about 2 yrs and was weekend/swing stuff. I do also believe he was pulling shifts up at Mix, as well (I think Al Levine was doing the same thing at the time, too)

Al was a maniac...start his day at Q105 in the morning, come up to Pro for afternoon and BMX for nights on Saturdays....NOW THAT'S RADIO!

as he said...he was "On the Scene"...catch him streaming on WBLI
