Program Changes At WREC and KWAM

News Radio 600 WREC has decided to move Glenn Beck to the "B Station," the Big 990 KWAM, in favor of a new local host named Ben Ferguson. But KWAM is airing Glenn Beck 10 AM to 12 Noon, when his show is live from 8-11 AM. Why would you make this move with the third most listened to talk show in the nation? Glenn Beck deserves to be aired live. And then, they air Dr. Laura in the morning from 8-10 AM, when her show is live from 2-5 PM. Any explanations???

WREC and KWAM are no longer affiliated with each other and have not been for some time. It is my understanding they dropped Glen Beck because he wasn't even near the third-most listened show in Memphis. I've watched those numbers for awhile and he just never worked here as well as their other programming.

It appears WREC decided to go local for that time slot, which should be commended, instead of opting for another syndicated show.

Not sure why KWAM is doing what they are doing, but I will ask around.

You'd think that after working at WREC the last 38 years while acting as C.O.O. of KWAM the last 4 years, I would have something to say about the changes at both facilities...I don't. I wish them both well, but my interest in them died the death of a small brown dog when I retired last March 15th.

Right. In fact it hadn't been for over 4 years. Concord Media Group, Inc., owned it from Jan.1, 2003, I believe, to March 15, 2007, when the sale was finalized with whoosis et al.

IMHO, since Glen Beck is on TV now 24/7 (or so it seems)....he has shortchanged his radio show and it shows. He needs to decide if he wants to do tv or radio.

Allan,

CC was running it under an LMA, though, when you were there, correct?

CC ran it as a LMA until November, 2005(or was it '06), when it became an ARA until it closed in March of this year.
