You have been given a AM and a FM in new orleans. Any signal/dial position. Program it:

My AM is 870 (duh). Keep the Saints & LSU. Shut Bob D & Monica in the morning down, go with a faster paced information style morning. Like WSB in Atlanta mornings. Dump Spud, search for some fresh blood for 9-noon. Keep Rush, steal Hannity, go local regular talk 5-8p, probably not Garland but would look at a local TV personality that could grow into the role. Move sports to 8p-11p. Shuts down any other talk in the market, I win.

My FM is 98.5. I flip to Country and take on NOE in a second. They seem lifeless, without much localism, that's where I attack. No syndicated morning show etc, get back to the roots of radio with live bodies in the studio. Plus I dislike CC for canning me 10 years ago and really want to take them down a notch. I don't need to take all of their 7.* , just some of it to hurt them. And I would.

Now if I could only come up with 30 mil to get those two signals

Larry - it would cost you more than $30 mil just for WWL.

But, I'll play along.

Diva 92.3 - I know it was "the point" and it was 80s, but it was also always low budget. Dump Diva and put on a personality AAA that leans male. By personality, I don't mean a stupid, low-brow morning show. Just someone who entertains and will get out in the community. The signal is big enough to cover NO and BR and their are enough regional/national brands (banks, auto dealers, restaurants, grocery, etc) that a 4 in NO and a 2 in BR could add up to big dollars, especially with males and 25-54 women. That or Gold. Neither NO or BR has an oldies station (I don't count WTIX).

All the ams suck. 690 is beyond fixing. I'd take 1280 and add more local elements, local drive times, syndicated the rest. I couldn't get LSU but maybe bring in Tulane football/basketball and UNO Basketball. Keep Jim Rome. Almost anything is better than a totally syndicated wasted signal.

But where would the worthless and grossly overpaid Bob Mitchell fit into your WWL scenario? He's their valuable ace in the hole to do mornings at age 70 when DelG crumbles like a 2000-year-old mummy.

DIVA should go 60's Gold and make money for a year or two instead of struggling with consultant fantasied formats of all kinds that go nowhere, but gives the consultants a reason to extend their tenure book to book and collect their paychecks.

Somewhere in the middle of the Pacific there should be an island where anyone who calls themselves a consultant should be sent to do hard labor in the sun for the rest of their lives.

*bzzzzzz* I'm sorry, try again. 98.5 and WNOE are sister stations. Next.

I'm no consultant but this station on American Samoa would do me just fine! http://www.khjradio.com

I would simulcast either my internet station rocknoldies.com or pipe in either our 97.9 WCPR (New/Active Rock) or 105.9 GO-FM (Classic Hits) from the MS Gulf Coast...
