programming philosophy

Gotta be a little more descriptive, there... programming philosophies when it comes to what, exactly? Music, jocks, dayparts... the list could go on.

Additionally, I can tell you right off the bat that no one has the same idea of the "best" philosophy when it comes to anything in radio. Some people may agree on certain things, but everyone has their own ideas as to what will and won't work. Some are right, some could also be right, and some are wrong, but asking which is "best" is a highly subjective question.

This is all opinion. What do YOU think are the best philosophies? Crazy jocks? Old jocks? Young jocks? New music? Familiar music? Guerilla marketing? Casual marketing? Music-driven morning show? Personality-driven morning show? Try to focus on the M's: Money, Music, Mornings, and Marketing.

Pick your style(s), and elaborate.

Just my opinion...

Do everything your old 60 year old consultant tells you, don't try anything new or creative, just read liners and don't embrace any new technology, let the sales department win every battle, play hot ac songs on a CHR station and don't pay any of your jocks more than 29k a year..... that's the philosophy you need if you ever want to work for Cumulus!

Goodness knows that's been their philosophy in Savannah ever since they arrived here in 1997.
