Programming via satelite

The cable networks were the first. Wasn't PBS the first terrestrial network to distribute programming by satelite? What was the last network to distribute programming over phone lines?

Good question! I know that PBS was one of the pioneers to move towards distributing their programming
via the internet 10 or 11 years ago. (talked with an IT guy who worked on their pilot project to allow
affiliate stations to choose and download PBS programming off of a menu).
