PROGRAMMING: WMOH

The earlier thread about programming a Cincinnati AM station was a general question. Specifically, what would YOU do with WMOH?

Tough question. What's left that's available and cheap to run? All the sports networks are locked up. It's down to 3rd tier talkers, some sort of music, or since it's Vern Baldwin, there's always paid religion I suppose.

I smell TRADIO! Maybe Kurt will want to come back from TWC????

What about some of the WSAI castoffs or the old WPFB-AM lineup? I could see them running Dr. Laura live in afternoon drive. The ONLY station in town NOT doing sports or male-type political talk. Dennis Miller's new show is in middays, and maybe (gasp!) a live/local host from 1 to 3? I'm surprised at how many people tell me they actually miss the old Salem stuff. A possibility?

Or, go Music of Your Life.

Or lease it to WDJO to fill in their missing northern Cincy coverage at night...Hey Rodger???

Leave it Alone, Steve Vaughn is a great Guy and some of the other people are busting thier Butt to make the station sound good, It's a job, add some more local flavor to it, some High school Sports, Keep broadcasting from the County Fairs, how about the Death Notices?? Brought to you by some Funeral home !!! all rightt!!!

Hate to see MOH go down like LeSourdesville...Something keeps telling me OLDIES! A WDJO simulcast sounds like a good idea since WMOH reaches up to Dayton. Okay okay I'm listening to WLS' Big 89 Rewind online while I'm banging on the keys...but I can dream can't I? Dayton no longer has oldies after WULM dropped that format a year ago.

One other option: Radio Maria needs a station that reaches into the Dayton area..could this be the one? Their Anna/Botkins FM at 88.7 fades out in Troy and Tipp City..while WMOH can also reach south into Cincy's lower portion of the archdiocese and as far north as Piqua. They've been looking for a Dayton frequency from the get-go before they stumbled upon the Anna frequency.

Well, it's working on 10 days later, and WMOH was still playing ESPN radio today. How long do they have to change? Why must they change? They had it first. Do all contracts read like this: "you may air our programs/networks, until we find a bigger station to carry it?" If so, that bites.....

Usually its a 90 day out for either party. Kert is ak Kiss Country in Springfield, no longer TWC unless something changed very recently. I have a friend who insists that the Hamilton-Middletown area would be fertile ground for Southern Gospel (especially with no brokered programming in between. Might be a nice compliment to WCNW.

We have Southern Gospel playing on a network of non-comms in SE Indiana (all running under 1KW vertical only). That format is HOT here...you hear it playing in stores & their "events" bring out surprisingly large numbers. I think that might be a wise choice for WMOH based on how well it plays in Columbus/Greensburg/Versailles.

WMOH's sister station 1560 WCNW is a southern gospel daytimer... At least that's what I think they're playing, who knows?

It's southern gospel but with so many preachers mixed in that there may be room for a 'full time' southern gospel station. Plus, it's a daytimer whereas WMOH is full time. WMOH has a good signal for being on 1450. As a teen, I listened to Boss Radio 1230 WUBE in College Hill at 6 miles. WMOH, at twice the distance, was almost as good as WUBE....both had 250 watts at night.
