Project 9-6-1

Re: Project 9-6-1 in the morning

Who cares. The station is dead. No one cares what they do now.

Project 9-6-1 Jocks

Unless she's doing overnights or weekend work, it looks like Jennifer is gone. This is from the R&R on-line article:

"Williams told R&R Project 9-6-1 will remain jockless until after Nov. 27, when Aly, formerly of The Buzz, will handle 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Williams will do 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. as he did on The Buzz; Knox, who did nights on The Buzz, will do 7 p.m.-midnight. Buzz morning man Whip did not make the transition and the search is on for Project 9-6-1's morning show."

I've always liked Chris and am glad that he is being loyal to a couple of the folks that got the Buzz to where it is/was. I'm sad that Whip didn't make the final cut. Wasn't Aly the MD at the Buzz? So what kind of morning show do they need to round out the M-F line-up?

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

- The Buzz jocks will cover Middays, Afternoons, and Nights.
- They are looking for a new morning show.
- Overnights is kind of a toss-up. It will be interesting to see if they even put anyone there or not. The Buzz had Doubledown as its overnight host, but ever since he left back in June they have kept that slot jockless. English Nick was overnights on 96rock. Overnight jocks seem to becoming a thing of the past. If 96.1 does not have a overnight jock, 99X will be the only rock station with one (I don't think Dave has anyone there anymore).

Jocks from 96rock and 105.3 The Buzz making or not making the move:

YES:
Aly (Middays)
Chris (Afternoons)
Knox (Nights)

NO:
Whip (WBZY Mornings)

?:
Fin (WKLS Middays)
English Nick (WKLS Overnights)
Jennifer Reed (WKLS Afternoons)
Geoff Cole (WKLS Weekends)
JT (WKLS Weekends)
Jason Gore (WKLS Weekends)
Alfred (WKLS Weekends)
Eric (WBZY Weekends)

I doubt we will see Big Rig, Cousin Deke, or Mr. Bill on The Project.

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

When they killed the station they killed the station.

With the exception of the Planet Radio move back in the 90s, this is the worst decision made about an Atlanta radio station.

It's day four folks and it still sucks!

and will continue hearing until station management gets the message!

Ever thought about sending a letter directly to the building of death? I seriously doubt that CC management wil consider the opinions of those on a message board. Perhaps if they had something delivered directly to them......

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

Have already done so. However, they do have people who read this board. That's why we must keep the pressure on. Decisions can be reversed (ala the Planet Radio fiasco....don't get me started on that one!)

Why not organize a protest in front of their building? Serve tacos.

Why Do You Think They Call It a "Project?"

Don't you think this is actually intended to be a work in progress?

Re: Why Do You Think They Call It a "Project?"

I believe the Project is a format at about 15-20 stations nationwide - whether they do well or not, who knows?

Re: Why Do You Think They Call It a "Project?"

I Googled and could find no US commercial radio station called "Project". Just some Internet and British stuff.

Were you thinking of "Planet?" I believe there are several stations using that moniker.

Re: Why Do You Think They Call It a "Project?"

I have read the thoughts behind the name selection and I think there should have been three or four more rounds of drinks before a final decision was made. The use of the word Project makes it seem too self important; maybe even too cool for regular folks that wear tennis or running shoes to listen to. A simple "Radio 961" would have worked.

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

ZING! Now, that one hits the juevos....

If they left it up to me (which, alas, it's pretty unlikely), I'd say the past few mornings are the most listenable they've had in several years, and should provide them some direction.

It's (supposedly) a Rock station ... so how 'bout keeping the emphasis on more rockin' and less talkin'.
