Project 9-6-1

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

Well, Fin apparently still has a job somewhere at Clear Channel Atlanta.
I'm sure JT is out with the other 96rock jocks and Eric is in with the rest of The Buzz jocks.
Are you sure Alfred and Jason Gore are gone? Alfred ran the Braves game and Jason Gore worked in imaging outside of their on-air duties. (Well, Alfred was really just on the air maybe 10x a year).

Lots of great people lost. My overnights aren't the same anymore with out English Nick. He was so much fun to listen to and 96 played really great stuff during overnights (they went a little deeper). I was really liking Jennifer Reed too. I was going to turn on the 420 smoke break today when I got off of work and then was like...oh wait...damn!
I thought Geoff Cole was one of the best weekend jocks in the city. That guy really knows his stuff. I'm the kind of person who enjoys learning about the music between the songs.

Many of my favorites had already exited 96rock earlier this year- Southside & Rhodes, The Regular Guys- both fired and Murray/Dank left (he sure did get out in time). While Dank never got fired, he certainly got a raw deal when The Buzz moved from 96.7 to 105.3. By far the best afternoon jock/jock of WBZY.

I think they got rid of not only the wrong station, but also the wrong people. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked The Buzz (96.7 more than 105.3), but compared to 96rock, well it doesn't. Over the last year I've really come to prefer 99X out of the 2 alternative stations anyways...after not listening for nearly 3 1/2 years.

A final question: how many years before Aly is on every one of CC Atlanta's frequencies? 3 down, 3 to go.

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

As far as I know Alfred and Jason Gore are no longer with WKLS.. someone told me that Alfred may be doing something else within Clear Channel....as for Jason Gore, I'm not sure if he's still with CC or not.

I will miss hearing English Nick. I was really enjoying hearing him filling in for Fin. Hope he lands somewhere soon.

You've got to be kidding. It's stunning at times what people consider good. Here's his show "The Thursday edition of the Dank show (or whatever day it was) here's _____." Followup that up with him being mean to a 12 yr old. No content, zero humor. 96 Atl, who's probably inside the building over there, you let friendships sway your opinion. Dekker was better, Whip was way better, Chris is better.

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

atlanta trend is in.. the regular guys, #4 25-54 adults and #6 18-34 adults! it's not to late.. call larry and eric! the buzz got killed, flip it back to 96 rock before it's to late!

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

I kind of thought Dank was funny and had a good delivery style. Lots of people on this board have given me crap for liking Southside Steve too- I don't care. I enjoyed the shows and thought they were a lot more fun to listen to than many other jocks on the radio today.

Those were good afternoons back in 04 - 05 with Southside and Rhodes on 96.1 and Dank on 96.7.

I never quite decided about Whip, but I am sorry to see him go.

Afternoons were kept pretty good in 06 at the CC Atlanta rock stations. Jennifer Reed was someone who I could see myself enjoying for years to come, hope she'll turn up elsewhere. I do like Chris. I think he does a great job at selling his product and making listeners excited to be a part of it.

I did kind of leave out Dekker in my ranking of the WBZY jocks- just cause I forget about him being there sometimes because he is the only one of them who moved on to another Atlanta station. But I do enjoy him a lot and with the recent exits of The Regular Guys, English Nick, and Jennifer Reed...I'd probably say that Dekker and Mara Davis are my current favorites.

And...I'm not in the building and haven't been in it before. These are only listener opinions and they do not have anything to do with friendships.

Re: Project 9-6-1 Jocks

Just a little feedback for the CC folks in charge of the web presence for P961( from a web designer) .....kill the website until you have some content to put up. KILL IT ALL!

Put up a splash page with the logo and the listen now button or the track listing....but don't put up a site with buttons that give the impression that there's something to see.....because there isn't anything there. I mean, I know you have other things to be concerned with, but WTF?

Dumb move. Really dumb.

Kisses!!!!

I guess the website is also a project....for somebody ::)

even a spash page is better than nothing.

wake up. it's 2006------YOU HAVE TO HAVE A WEB PAGE!!!!!!!!!!! even if its not fully built out yet, geez give 'em a minute willya?

I agree Andy. I was a bit frustrated to find empty links. They should have put up an intro splash page with a couple of links and promoted the debut of the fully functional site.

Unable to listen today, though listened for while early this AM. Wasn't today the day that we would hear on-air personalities at some point? Has it happened yet?

I was tuning through during the 3pm half-hour and heard Chris hosting the pm drive slot. I dont know if Aly made here 96.1 debut but Chris was live.

Yes, Aly made her debut at 10am and Knox made his at 7pm.

I'm not thinking there will be an overnight host, mornings are jockless until they put together a show, and I'm guessing weekends will be like they were on The Buzz with Aly, Chris, and Knox each doing 1 -2 shifts and I'm speculating that Eric (former Dave FM jock) is still around and will do 2 weekend shifts.

Again, it's interesting how the Buzz started 2006 with 9 jocks (4 weekenders) and are down to 3 from those people (and only Whip was fired).

This recent 96/Buzz merger* all certainly goes well with CC's nationwide firings/cut backs as the 96rock on-air staff was much larger than that of The Buzz.

* that whole merger thing is such crap. Let's see what is left from 96rock...about 25 songs from the playlist, the call letters, and Art "Mad Man" Mehring doing traffic.

I believe I already said this

I just have an issue with websites that have dead/empty links. I was a webmaster for 3 1/2 years and the company I worked for thought the same way. Unfortunately, putting a web page up with NO CONTENT or information only frustrates users and reflects upon what kind of action said company takes in it's business. I may be the only one that sees it this way, and that's fine...it's a beef I have with companies who still have no clue about using the internet as a tool.

Anybody consider that this is just being thrown together at the last minute and that's why it's so disorganized?

Any else find it laughable that someone described the Buzz, err, Project DJ's as "air personalities" and as "talent"? Listen to the guy on the air right now. What an "air personality" he is.

Guess I'm part of the problem...

I agree with the guy above me... I listened to Chris, and then to Knox for a while. Wow...... They must be paying the night dude minimum wage; he stinks. What I hate is the ID: W K L S ATLANTA - Project 9 6 1

Why keep KLS at this point? You've already ripped the heritage to shreds. If you want a new attitude, a new beginning, a rebuilding phase, then drop KLS. Let KLS rest in peace at least.

Their imaging.... "If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem" (Something like that)

Guess I'm part of the problem. I don't like it.

My solution was to stop listening. No problem.

99X has countered with promos that state: "Proud to be part of the problem."
