Project 961 plays a song their competitors dont. . .

Unfortunately, that song is Jerry Reed - Eastbound and Down !?!? (the song from Smokey and the Bandit) heard today at 5:20pm.

Really?

Sorry if I got your hopes up with this subject line . . .

I'm guessing it was done as a traffic bump, or something specific was happening (funny caller, in studio guest) that prompted said song to get air.

Now go away.

That Jerry Reed song is part of Chris Williams's Work Release Program on Friday afternoons. Honestly, I can do without it, but it is a Friday tradition on the Project.

Plus, Reed's a favored Atlanta home grown talent.

Let it go, and might I suggest you look a little deeper into his work past the novelty tunes.

You'll find a genuine virtuoso if you do, one that Chet Atkins no less called his "favorite guitarist of them all".

Has the Project been around long enough for anything on the station to be considered a "tradition"? Now, if it were a 96Rock carryover, I could see your point.

"The 5 O'Clock Whistle" on New York's Z-100 - now that was a tradition...

Or Kaedy Kiely's 5:00 Whistle on 96Rock and then Z93...I wonder who's came first...Kaedy's whistle dates back to at least the mid-80s.
