Project Columbus

I decided to do a little project just to get a feel from people about Columbus radio. Here's a sample of what I came up with...

I asked my girlfriend and her answer was: For Columbus to be as big and as progressive as it is, we have horrible radio stations.

I asked my friends: Most say they don't listen to the radio but the couple of friends who say that they do said that they can't stand any of our radio stations and specifically 97.9 and 107.5. One friend mentioned how he can't understand how Dayton has better radio than us.

I asked my dad: He hasn't listened to the radio since WMNI flipped from Standards to News.

I asked my mom: She listens to WTVN or Sirius.

I asked my co-workers: ALL of them say that any other city in Ohio has better stations than Columbus.

I asked my redneck neighbors and they're happy.

So there you have it, it's not just us "radio geeks" who understand how bad Columbus radio is, it's just about everybody.

Columbus radio hasn't been worth listening to since I graduated from high school at the end of the 80's. Nobody wants to compete much with one another unless you want country or classic rock. We haven't had 2 CHRs since 1995. If you look at Cleveland or Cincinnati you'll notice the Clear Channel CHRs actually have a CHR leaning Hot AC that beats them in the monthly ratings. Those 2 Hot ACs also have a competitive city signal to boot.
