Projo's Bob Kerr slams WPRO

Not posting this to get the same tired responses to any thread involving specific talk hosts but in today's Projo,Bob Kerr made mention of WPRO's compassionate offer to let Arlene Violet say her goodbyes on WPRO after being let go at WHJJ. He then mentioned that the compassion seemed to have gone out the window when they let Dave Barber go without notice. Frankly I don't think it's the same thing here. The Arlene offer was more because she was an established name in the market, like her or not,& shouldn't have just disappeared. Barber, though I think he did a decent job,was a recent talk show entry & while I sympathize with the course of events I sometimes wonder if newspaper people who remain at their jobs for eternities even have a grasp of what goes on in other media.

It could also be said that when you allow someone at a competing station to say goodbye on yours, you probably don't have to worry about them bashing you. Arlene wouldn't come on and say bad things about WPRO since they arn't the ones who fired her. But you really don't have that same security when you let one of your own talents say goodbye on your air after you just told them to start packing.

Of course you also have the rare case when a DJ no longer has the heart to go on and then just quits on the air. Listen to the link below for an example. Well.... in such cases there is really nothing that any radio station can do about that. LOL

This is what I was talking about. I can tell you this; If Cianci comes to WPRO or WHJJ, it will be a War!
The Pro Jo is gunning for a persom they see as a deviant and a gangster.
Cianci will be Radio active. Neither of those stations need the headache. Walter.

what kerr doesn't realize is that wpro doesn't owe anybody anything. they offered arlene airtime for one reason-potential ratings. i found arlene unlistenable but would have tuned to hear the potential car wreck. they didn't let barba on for the same reason you don't let anyone you just fired back on the job, regardless of the business.

the only reason cianci doesn't get back on RI radio is if he doesn't want to get back on. St pierre has the contact so plan on him landing there-tucked right between depetro and york. Rush is coming to the end of his line. the writings on the wall, he sounds tired. worse case, they can tape it and rerun it to keep hjj from getting it. as far as no one getting along, no one hated each other more then steve white and sherm strickhauser but St Pierre was able to get those guys on right next to each other in the mid 80's.

At least Kerr is LOCAL...LOCAL.
Dave Barber was NOT local.
Not FROM Rhode Island!

At least Kerr is not a Local CONVICTED TWICE FELON.
I bet Cianci would be a rating boost, if he is even ABLE
to handle radio after prison.
One thing, Buddys friend is NOT just talking to WPRO.
You all watch, someone is reaching out to HJJ for Buddy.
Just watch. ;)

Hey, look I don't work in your business. I have someone who does. I think I know who the Friend of Buddy is.This person Was a program manager at one time. He would like that back. He doesn't like too many people and wants present management out at his station. Do I have the rite person? And why would he talk to whjj?

the only reason i can see buddy talking to hjj is because thats where he had his golden years of radio. there may be some holdovers from those days, like jim corwin, that he may feel he should at least lsten to an offer. otherwise, it was st pierre who actually put him on the air and there's still a friendship there.
