Promo bug has got NBC's Attention

It sounds very weird; The bugs promoting shows like "Top Chef", "Monk", and "Psyched" you see on the networks of NBC-U (Sci-Fi, Bravo, USA) has gotten into the Mother Network. Like, for instance-It mentioned an All-New Episode of "E.R." above the peacock logo on the lower left-hand corner. NBC also uses the olympic rings below the peacock to hype-up The 2008 Summer Olympics which takes place on 8-8-8, which is considered to be China's luckiest numbers.

Where have you been? NBC's been using a bug connecting his logo with the olympic rings since they ink first went dry on their deal with the IOC, it seems.

I did notice NBC start using the left-side promo bug you speak of shortly after Christmas, to coincide with all the new programming that was scheduled in January.

Actually, they began using it before Christmas. Apart from the Olympic Rings, the only other notable change to the bug was that it was made translucent earlier this month (apparently due to "burn-in" concerns).

NBC is always changing their bug. The only time ABC has changed it in probably a long time is this fall when they made it look nicer and then for a few weeks added the snowflake logo for the holidays. CBS never has changed their bug it seems. The CW and Fox never does either.

I've always watched Days and Passions when it was on and I've seen the olympic rings, the letters "NBC" below the peacock, then most recently the bug switched from the right to the left. At first, it was just the peacock, now it's back to those rings again, but now they have advertisements?! Very annoying. I've noticed though when they show the opening of Days of our Lives with the hourglass, the NBC logo doesn't have the rings. Also, do you notice that before the pop up telling you what's showing appears, the translucent NBC bug with the 'NBC" lettering shows up for a few seconds?

What we need is someone to invent a "bug" spray to "kill" off all the network logo bugs. Unless you are a complete imbecile, you should know what net your favorite shows are on without having to be reminded every second. I think it would be funny if all of a sudden a can of raid would appear on the screen and spray the network bugs and they all fell off the screen never to appear again ;D

Besides NBC-U & The Turner Networks, FX and ABC-Family also has gotten the attention-by plastering the promos to its upcoming shows on screen How Annoying???

These bugs, pop up's, channel logo's are all annoying, especially on ABC/Family with the santa popups during the 25 day of xmas, Ok this started back in the late 80's as I remember on cable and the the network logo's start appearing on the bottom of the screen. This shows the retarded tv viewer is knowing what channel their tuned to.and these watermarks are good for stopping or slow down the pirates to sell tv shows on ebay and now Youtube ,P2P file sharing, bittorrent the shows on a bitorrent site.

I have noticed this bug on NBC for practically whole shows since about a month ago it seems like.
If this is the only close-to-helpful thing to come from the extra space of a digital tv screen, I'll just stick with my old one, thanks. ???

It might so cool to see a show's sponsor on the screen, Like Budweiser or Coke. I'm telling you, there IS so much space to fit on the flat-screen, right about now...

Yeah, our tv is still analog, too, I was just lamenting the extra space the networks are going to have to cram more ads on there... :'(
Well I guess it won't be as bad as :'( crying, I could just turn it off at some point before that....

Yes, that would be the stunt I'm talking about! Keep the bug in the corner, but make it a clear one with no advertising attached to it. Ugh! :(

NBC's big, bright-colored bug was so invasive during their showing of "It's a Wonderful Life" that it made us switch the channel. The bright colored peacock with text about some battle of choirs or some such loser of a show was obnoxious against the black and white movie. This is the kind of stuff that drives you to watch DVDs or premium channels. Horrible.

When will these greedy, overeducated yet unintelligent, bastards get the message that enough is enough and not everything must be a "platform" to be "leveraged" for additional "utilization of resources."

Or some other such "weasel-ese."

I take home some gaffers tape from work, stick it on the screen in over the bug, remove as needed.
Or I just wait to buy the show on DVD so I can watch it without bugs, commercials and other garbage on my own schedule.

THese "Bugs" are beyond annoying. Sticking something else on the screen while a program is running is a total lack of respect for that work. SO if the networks dont' respect or care about their programming, why should I?
