Promotional $$$ for WOYK-AM 1350

??? So, with the Orioles airing this season on AM 1350 WOYK, just where will they find the promotional/marketing money for this team? ??? This club will not be promoted as it should when their spots are sold for $5 - $10 per. Also, how can they overcome a weak nighttime signal? ???

A few observations; First I think the Orioles are probably grateful to have a
station in York; as Orioles fans should be.
Regarding WOYK's power ; it is the same as WSBA at night ; both stations
have directional 1kw signals at night; but WOYKs night signal in much
of the county is better...so not quite sure where your facts are coming from.
And as for promotion as several high profile corporate executives from a major
broadcast companys have said many times....Offer compelling programming
and listeners will find it......and I think the sports programming offered on
1350 along wil the O's broadcasts will attract the O's listeners in York
without a problem. By the way on this board it seems that many can only
offer negative comments particularly about large group owners...Well in this
case you have local operators and still you want to criticize. You can't have
it both ways. And no I do not work for or have an association with anyone
at WOYK. I just have an appreciation for those who work to make AM radio
viable and profitable in 2007.

My point was that it costs money to venture into a large advertising campaign with a new product. You didn't answer the main question, which was my intent. However, no radio station worth its salt can compete when it sells its product in a medium market for $5 - $10 per. If you don't believe me I might suggest you contact the RAB.

Radio ad rates are determined by supply and demand. And exactly how
do you know what WOYK will sell their ads for on O's baseball.
Frankly at times last year from what I recall WSBA was nearly
giving it away at times.
And yes I did answer your question regarding large advertising
campaign....FORGET IT ; as I said previously O's fans
will find it...its been publicized in the newspapers and really
until the O's put a winning team on the field any advertising
would be like tossing money down a large pit.
And as for radio stations and the rates they charge the only
thing that matters is the bottom line...either you make money
or you don't. As long as your incoming revenue exceeds your outgoing
expenses thats all you need to worry about.

you go tim. your words were true...why waste your ad $$$ in pa for a baltimore team that is not where it was in the days of cal.

Precisely, why go with a loser unless you want to look like a loser. That night-time signal is NOT good south of York, and besides, they've been buried by the Phillies fanbase in the papers. WSBA had awful ratings with the Orioles and so will WOYK. No one listens to losers.
