Just saw two TV spots (separated by only one other spot) for KMPS and Wolf ... which made me think to ask what people think of the actual promotions and marketing teams in town. I think very highly of both JenP @ Fisher and Apryl @ CBS. Think they both know the market and their audiences well.
For example, at McBride concert earlier this month in Everett both KMPS and WOLF were highly visible. KMPS was running games ("Martini-McBride Olive Toss") which was something everyone could essentially relate to. When WOLF jocks went on stage they offered tix to someone who could come by their booth and name their air talent (a very jock-centric way of doing a giveaway!!). While WOLF seems to be doing more generic "in your face" marketing to get their (new) brand out there, the KMPS team has a lot of experience with that audience and knows how to play to a crowd.
In the end, though, I stand by what I have said before .... that it's very easy to get wrapped around a promotion schedule and feel you're marketing the daylights out of your station -- but in the end it's VERY often the same people tracking and participating in contests -- and a small % of the total cume.
Are there other "stars" in town? Seems that turnover is constant at most other stations ... always recruiting a new promotions director here or there....
