Proof of how sudden a DX opening can happen

Tonight around 8pm CST I browsed around the dial to see if anything was coming in, nothing out of the ordinary, about 10 minutes later i was listening to my part 15 signal from a few ft away on 104.9 FM when it started getting major interference, I unplugged my transmitter and there was 104.9 The Fox (WFXO) from Iuka MS loud and clear, flipped around a little more, a country station IDing as Kicks 106 on 105.9 coming in over the normally clear WNRQ from Nashville, Rock 103 from Memphis, Oldies 97.1 from nashville next to a local 100kw 96.9, a 101.9 playing oldies next to the local 100kw 102.1, I heard 99.9 the fox (WSMS) from Artesia MS, a country staton on 101.7 IDing as "the worm" then about 10 minutes later, nothing. It was a rather interesting experience to see how rapidly an opening (this one wasn't a very good opening compared to the last one that lasted several days and covered from AR to SC, this one was mainly from Eastern MS ans West TN) ca come and go<P ID="signature">______________

Strangely enough, their call letters are WORM<grin>. They're in Savannah, Tenn. on the Tennessee River north of Corinth, Miss..

Hi

Actually, you may well find the opening may not have been so "sudden" if you'd been monitoring activity on Band I. This band often open looong before the FM does.
