Tell me what you think of this for weekdays.

5AM: World News This Morning
7AM: Good Morning America
9AM: Tyra Banks
10AM: Tony Danza
11AM: The View
12PM: Dr. Phil
1PM: ABC Daytime
4PM: ABC6 News, anchored by Walt & April
5PM: ET
5:30PM: Insider
6PM: ABC7 Eyewitness News, from WABC New York, WPVI 6ABC Action News Philadelphia, or sister station WTVC NewsChannel 9 Chattanooga. (or Millionaire)
6:30PM: World News Tonight
7PM: ABC6 News, anchored by Wendy, Walt & April
7:30PM: Millonaire (if not aired at 6PM; otherwise, news for full hour)
8PM: ABC Primetime
11PM: ABC6 News, anchored by Walt & Wendy, unless Walt is unable to anchor (I don't know, would you want to put news here, during competition?)

By the way, this is not really happening. This is just another one of my ideas. It just might save them a little cash to improve, and maybe bring back some old faces (Dave Layman, Ann Conway, ect.). It's crazy, I know.

Great idea adding a newscast at 4 pm and 7 pm. Bad idea moving Dr. Phil and adding local news from other markets at 6 pm.

Seeing we are on the topic of WLNE'S schedule. It would be interesting to see in September who will be anchoring live coverage from Warwick Mall. For the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. Will the powers that be at Channel 6 keep John Deluca & Wendy? Even though John is no longer anchoring? Will it be April & Wendy? Walter Cryan for many years has been associated with Meeting Street School. So that may or may not be a possibility. But you never know.

Yeah, it's probably going to be Walter & April, and maybe Wendy. After all, they anchored WLNE's Year in Review last year.

Going back to my proposed money-saving schedule, don't forget to pull the plug on the Rhode Island News Channel. What kind of use would that be if WLNE cut down on news? That is of course unless they make it a separate 24-hour news operation still operated by WLNE. Otherwise, give it up.

Wouldn't it be more advantageous for WLNE to better associate the ABC6 News operations with Rhode Island News Channel instead of shutting it down? Maybe a better constructed and shared identity of the two (perhaps Rhode Island News Channel at 6 on WLNE, or something along those lines). It would seem to me that identifying that way would better associate the New Bedford station with the Providence area, something that's been 6's downfall in the market for years.

I think WLNE-6 should consider running their midday news at 12:30 P.M. instead of 12 Noon, run "World News Tonight" at 7 P.M., with the early-evening local news at 7:30.

This way, they could fill the time from 12 Noon to 12:30 P.M. and 6-7 P.M. with entertainment programming. Such counterprograming would probably do better in the ratings than news, and with the only (unless WJAR-10 expands it's noon newscast to an hour) local newscasts at 12:30 and 7:30 P.M. (not to mention the only network news at 7), WLNE would probably do better in the ratings with "nontraditional" scheduling of news than they do now.

Okay. So let's do it like this for weekdays, mornings remaining the same.

12PM: Millionaire
12:30PM: ABC6 Midday News, anchored by April
(would you use this title, already taken by WCVB?)
1PM: ABC Daytime
4PM: ABC6 News at Four, anchored by Walt & April
(the only 4PM newscast in the market, but would you put it up against Oprah?)
5PM: Dr. Phil
6PM: ET
6:30PM: Insider
7PM: World News Tonight
7:30PM: ABC6 Evening News, anchored by Wendy, Walt, & April
(the only three-person anchor team in the market, at a unique time)
8PM: ABC Primetime
11PM: ABC6 News Nightcast, anchored by Walt & Wendy
(would you use this retired title, is Walt up to it, would you even put news here?)

About doing better in the ratings with "nontraditional" scheduling of news, this would probably be true only at 4PM, because by 12:30 and 7:30, we would have already recieved the local news. Maybe do the midday news at 11 or 11:30, before the other stations come in.

All right, 2 problems with your theory. First of all, Martha is airing on WJAR; I checked marthastewart.com. However, Tyra Banks is airing on 6, and she's already scheduled for 9AM. So Millionaire will have to go once at 12:30.

I like how you put Jerry Springer in at 4PM, since WLWC isn't currently airing it. Although I'd still stick with Providence's only 4PM newscast. But coincidently, Freedom-owned WLAJ, ABC in Lansing, MI, also airs Jerry.

Finally, the point here is to have WLNE cut down on news to save money, and with your schedule, nothing changes. See, with my schedule, morning and noon is eliminated. While that is gone, I've put in newscasts at unique times, 4PM and 7PM, perfect times to grab ratings. Oh yeah, and uhh, where's The Insider?

Let me take this opportunity to thank those of you that have contributed to and switched up the schedule.

------------

I had no clue that Martha was airing on WJAR. I had no idea what station picked it up. As for Tyra Banks, that show will be off the air within a year. I can already tell that it's one of those poor attempts at just giving a celebrity a talk show and hoping that it will work. But it won't.

One of the things that's lacking from TV today is Game Shows. Sure you've got Millionaire, but that's it. If there were more Game shows available in syndication I would just load up WLNE's schedule with them. It would close a lot of gaps that I see currently being filled with poor programming over there.

The station is trying to build a stronger NEWS Identity. So your plan of getting rid of Newscasts just goes against what the station is trying to do. I see your point however of trying to save them money. But their Master Plan seems to be a little different then yours.

At this point there are no right or wrong ideas. Just different ones is all. Thanks for starting a great topic. It's been fun.
