Protest at the NAB?

Greater Media isn't going to flip 950 WPEN until the 3rd of October so they can use it for a HD Radio demonstration at the NAB Convention. If there is going to be a demonstration it should be with all of us. Instead of just typing our thoughts and comments about how companies like GM have been killing the industry, maybe we should set up our own demonstration.

Does anybody feel like having some late September fun?

If so post a reply and we will set up a meeting place for us all to discuss.

Heck, no, we won't go!

Protest HD.
Protest killing off Oldies. It didn't work in New York, but what the heck.
Even protest killing off standards. That did work downashore, so might be worth a shot.

Besides, PEN could use the free publicity.
Looks like it's time for TV Land to bring back "WKRP in Cincinnati."

The only protest that would be meaningful, would be to protest to the NAB about their weak stance in protecting the interests of terrestrial broadcasting to the FCC...who, thus far, has allowed the satellite radio industry do anything it wants, especially encroaching on the domain of local services...which it was never supposed to do.

So you think the FCC should regulate content on the satellite services? Should traffic and weather be banned?

The only stipulation the satellite services agreed to was that they couldn't use their repeaters to originate local programming. They've held up their end of the bargain thus far.

I can understand not using the repeaters to orginate programming (they are repeaters after all), but I think when you start regulating content on a pay service, that's dangerous territory. Why should local radio have a monopoly on traffic and weather?
