PROTEST SIRIUS...SENDING JOBS TO SOUTH AMERICA!

The other day I had to call Sirius customer service. I couldn't understand the rep. I asked her where she was located and she told me South America. America could use these jobs. I do not want my $$$ going to South America. The protest is coming!

You can tell the same thing to XM, to HP, Dell, Apple, and on & on. Customer service is being outsourced faster than you can say recession!!

WTF,

I do think they have outsourced the call center, but don't think in South America, I think India. When I called, the person had an accent and sounded like they were from India.

Needless to say, I was not impressed with Sirius doing this.

I've had to call the customer service line a few times. Two reps told me they were located in S. America. I got one rep in upstate NY.

If you ask me their customer service blows. They over charged me. I've made several calls. I don't need this. If I have a problem with a company it should take one call. Not 3 calls. They need me more than I need them. I may cancel soon.

Well, it's a little more understandable when a company that's hemorrhaging money like Sirius does it than when a cash cow like AT&T does. If your company were zillions of dollars in the hole like Sirius, wouldn't you jump at the chance to pay someone in Guyana or wherever 75 cents an hour to answer phone calls than pay someone in the U.S. $7 an hour to do the same work?

I called XM a couple years ago, and someone with a thick Indian accent said: "This is Rob Myers. How may I help you?" It's like asking
for chow on a flight and being handed the Shanghai phone directory.

I’ve heard that it’s getting to the point where outsourcers are outsourcing. There was a customer service operation in Pakistan that sub-contracted an account to another company in Somalia or somewhere in Africa. The bottom line is that nobody wants to hear your problems...

dude your money has been going all over the world for quite some time, its called globalization. that means all corporations are spanning the globe seeking the cheapest semi-slave labor possible.

if you don't like their uncomprehending incomprehensible help complain to the company. some companies have listened and brought their customer service back. i doubt siri will listen, their customer service was a disgrace before they shipped it out so clearly they don't care.

i just blistered them about my last encounter when i called to cancel one of my radios. their response was to send me a "dear kenneth" email offering 2 free months. my name is john.

This is why my local cablevision is the best! They always answer the phone and they always talk english!
We are all sick to death of answering machines, hold times and people with heavy accents.

They're using South America b/c it's the same time zone that we are.

Nope. Variety of reasons why a country gets picked but the circadian rythmn of low cost laborers is not one.
