The Providence Bruins are now on four stations. The new "flagship" station is WARL-1320. New "network" affiliates include WBLQ-88.1, WQRI-88.3, and WNRI-1380. Kevin Boryczki is the new play-by-play voice for the P-Bruins. He replaces Corey Masse, who is now Manager of Media Relations for the Washington Capitals. Corey was also seen on NESN during Boston Bruins broadcasts. Fill-in radio voice and media/public relations manager Adam Alper is no longer with the P-Bruins.
Question concerning the two non-commerical radio affiliates: how do WBLQ and WQRI handle their spot breaks when WARL airs "network" spots? Do they just fill with PSAs or promos? I didn't know until tonight about the new "network" when I flipped on WDDZ-550 and found Radio Disney programming. I just happened to flip on WARL and heard the P-Bruins post game show. I'm also surprised a college radio station (WQRI) would air professional sports play-by-play. Also, doesn't WBLQ do play-by-play of Westerly High School football? If they still do, how will the P-Bruins broadcasts be handled during the high school football season? Will WBLQ air the Westerly football on 96.9 or vice versa?
