It seems the cost cutting storm that's hit other markets big and small isn't blowing into RI. I'm not wishing it on anyone but it seems odd. I've heard the usual fourth quarter Clear Channel blowouts may not happen this year anyway but is this market that safe and secure or is the year still young?

What is there left to cut? The B is on autopilot right now w/ Xmas 101, only 2 jocks on Coast, 1 talker on HJJ, bare bones at HJY. If anything, it might be off air cuts at Clear Channel; but other than Paul & Al, Geoff & Steve MacDonald there is nothing else to do unless they are going to pull a morning show off the bird out of NYC for The B or Coast......

I think Citadel is where people are watching regarding potential layoffs.

Things could be getting a lot leaner for local media outlets soon. According to today's PRO-JO, there are 58 automobile dealerships in Rhode Island...if just one of the big 3 automakers goes down in Detroit. It will be devastating for local TV and Radio advertising. Things could be getting very grim soon! :-[

Doesn't The FCC require radio stations to carry a certain amount of local programming?

Look at the story about the big 3 automakers curtailing advertising on radio and anywhere else. That's gonna hurt.

Tad is one...Kristen Lessard is the other. Maybe voicetracked; but it is still in day voicetracks....

Since I haven't heard of any moritoriums on hiring at CC I think you'll see a morning co-host(ess) soon. Someone coming in from another market needs time to relocate. Strangely, they had Amy Pontes as part of the morning show for a while and she would have fit but she's on mornings on WJZS with Art Berluti. Must be something about the name Amy on Oxford Street.
