There is a little controversy on the Boston Board because someone asked about air personality salaries.Some feel it's private info_Others like myself feel no one should have to answer but radio is media and if you want the privilege of media you're subject to being discussed.If you don't want this you get out of the media.

Guesses have been made about Buddy Cianci,Dan Yorke,and John DePetro on this board.
The Providence Journal once did an article about Paul and Al at contract renewal time and quoted them as making in the six figures.Program directors aside,who else is at that income level?I would guess Jones,Giovanni,Jefferds,and Charles.I'd guess Providence for the most part is a mid 60s market.Some are making less for full time.You also have to look at stations like PRO-FM where some djs spend more time doing appearances at the clubs at Twin River than they do in the studio as having that enter the picture over and above salary.

You would probably subtract 20-30K for a market like Fairhaven for full time jobs.Then again the nite dj at Fun107 Ron Medeiros is working a 6 day a week part time job probably with no benefits so who knows how little some people actually make.

I have always wondered about Cape Cod.I am guessing comparable to Fairhaven.Unless you're married with two incomes coming in how in the name of God do you even earn enough to pay the rent down there?
 
You'll see the six figure salaries becoming more few and far between in this market. And anybody working five or six days a week on a part time level with no benefits needs his head examined. But then with no benefits you can't spend the money on the doctor's visit to have your head examined, can you?
 
It amazes me as to what/how management can justify paying someone. Using CC as an example. They get rid of Joan for Tad. Now I'm not slamming anyone here. But for Tad to go from PD at Hall. To morning drive at WSNE. The $$$
had to be there.

Tad wasn't only PD at Cat Country. He was staying on as morning guy too. Maybe there was more money at Coast but he had to know what the future would be unless Rick Everett convinced him that he and Brian would rule mornings in Providence. I don't think anyone would be gullible enough to believe that. His replacement PD at Cat Country isn't exactly just getting his feet wet in programming now. As far as the money, Coast saves Joan's salary, Chuck's salary, and Jessica's salary. They keep Brian and get a morning newsgirl with Amy Pontes then let her go, which was another strange move since a female voice is needed on that show. If of course certain parties are planning to eventually just get out of radio then a move for more money even if it's to a station where your shelf life is probably 3-5 years might be considered a good move.
