Funny the talkers miss it and G101 was all over the matchup leading up to the kickoff and then again on Sunday after the fact. Maybe the news outlets should listen to their neighborhood CHR's.

We had Nittany Lion liners and sweepers, etc. We scooped the fact that ESPN picked the Buckeyes to win and took caller reaction to that, etc.

Seems to be the trouble is most stations run on autopilot these days. There is not a live person in the building to hit the air with this stuff!

And now, another installment of: "Slightly-Too-Inside":

Was it on the Metro News wire?

Especially that Sports Talker on 1450…2 hours of pre-game before joining the network pre-game and another 2 hours after the network post game show, taking calls until 1:30AM…they missed out totally.

The Hot 103 Morning Show REALLY dropped the ball...their stuntboy makes it onto ESPN 2’s Cold Pizza on Friday morning and he had Woody Paige from the show on the air at Hot 103, not to mention people in the crowd, some of the girls in the dance team...oh yeah, those “whiteout” shirts with their logo on them, what were they thinking?

QWK Rock, another station that doesn’t get it…giving out those “whiteout” shirts with their logos on them downtown and at Paterno-ville...shame on you guys.

I guess the live local morning show on WRSC talking about the game and its impact on the area during their morning show wasn’t enough.

The Bus, carrying the game and being at two different locations the day before the game and having presence at the stadium the day of...and Lite having presence at the stadium too...damn it, they missed out too.

mmmmuuuuhahahaha...before you get your panties in a bunch Hitman, I am just being sarcastic :)

So to dmoney, the original poster, there was a lot of live and local radio this past weekend, not just our stations, but the others too...by the way, I know who you are and I listen to you online every once so often...you are sounding good...keep it up!?!

Nothing in a bunch Glen...but FYI...G101 gave out whiteout tees too from Downtown on Saturday. We dished out quite a few ourselves no strings attached and it did not even cost our clients a cent either.

By the way...I did say listen to your neighborhood CHR's...as in (2) in town...so yes it seems you did plenty as well.

But we must both admit that many (not all) of the stations in general lack any type of Live presence on weekends at all. Too much automation and voicetracking!

If you mean the hiss over the past few days...yes it was an electrical fault quickly corrected. If you mean the music...well thats a matter of opinion...enough said! Sorry but you aren't getting me stirred up on that. We think our little station sounds just fine.

50,000 watts...but little as in ONE SIGNAL...ONE LOCAL OWNER...small staff...limited budget unlike the great Empire across town with access to multiple sticks, huge dollars, etc!

We are a small humble company proud to serve our community.

Just an observation but a "humble" staffer does not refer to another company as "the great EMPIRE." You aren't Luke Skywalker, they aren't Darth Vader or the Death Star.

Several persons on this board have referred to one local company as THE EMPIRE so that's nothing new here. By the way...funny how you knew exactly what company I was talking about huh?

When you push the limits of creating a monopoly, you risk a little ridicule now and then.

Oh and I never said I was humble...I am actually quite PROUD of the product I represent. I said our company was humble. Take for instance our sales force will never be heard saying to a potential client "Oh you should not buy XYZ..." Can't say the same for some other broadcasters from what I have heard.

Re: HAHAHA NERDS!

Allow me to quote you again:

"We are a small humble company proud to serve our community."

By using the word "our" in your quote the way you did, you placed yourself into the category of one of the humble employees of that company. Your comment about "the great EMPIRE" was not what a humble man says. A humble man says something...well, with more humility.

And what does knowing which company you refer to have to do with anything? If you refer to a radio company and call it an empire in this neck of the woods, there can only be one you can be referring to. Used prior or not, process of elimination means anyone familiar with who owns what around here can figure it out.

And on a lighter note, just so you don't get the wrong idea and think I'm attacking you, there's not a damn thing wrong with being proud of your station, your work or your product. I agree with you on that point.

Re: HAHAHA NERDS!

Let me ask a question?

Why is it that everyone on this site, with the exception of Glen and BodyByVictoria, take everything so Damn personal. So what you don't like the "evil empire" across town, G101 you think sounds like ass, the buzz is multi phasing out by Toftrees...Great, thanks for pointing it out. I'm sure the person it is directed at will look into it. Somebody mentioned that there was no talk of PSU being #8...as a matter of fact they are #10, #8 and something else depending on what poll you look at. The point is because somebody said something about their station doing this and that it all came back to the bashing of Forever. So what they own a gazillion stations in the area. Is that really a reason to blame them for everything that goes wrong.

Re: NO VIRGINIA, THERE'S NO SANTA

1. This is not brain surgery and programmers are not brain surgeons. Hopefully no one is dead at the end of the day
2. Radio is SNOW and BUSINESS and since the early 90's...more bankers, more business.
3. Radio is suppose to be fun and too bad most have nothing to compare fun to...as in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
4. Things never change...small market programmers will continue to imitate large market stations and large market programmers continue to be worried about not sounding small market enough or being too slick.
5. Every radio company has its good and bad points...those points depend on where you are on the totem pole.
6. A successful programmer is not measured by wins and losses...but how he plays the game. Many great programmers have failed at the suit and tie game and many lousy programmers have become VPs of major companies because they are at home on the golf course and can belt out the bullshit with the best of them.
7. Radio is no different from and other profession, you measure your success by how you feel at the end of a day, what you see when you look in a mirror and your own piece of mind.

Re: HAHAHA NERDS!

I can't answer your question A.J. but I do think there are some on this board who need to lighten up and there are some who need to make an appointment with a local proctologist for a board-ectomy.

Blaming Forever is kinda like blaming Halliburton. For some, they are a convenient target. If I was going to gripe about Forever, it would be about how they treat their people, not the product they put on the air. Then again, we're all free to work where we choose - Forever isn't out there drafting people.
