PT1350 Returns Monday; Kool Returns Sometime In January

According to Tom Fitzmorris, PT1350 will return on Monday, December 12. That means you can again hear people like Al Franken, Jerry Springer, and Randi Rhodes in the New Orleans area.

Plus, you get Tom Fitzmorris' food show 5 days a week again. Is it just me, or does it seem that he's sometimes a little too confrontational with callers... for a food show?

According to Tommy Tucker, Kool 105.3 will again be playing oldies sometime in January, when the new transmitter is hooked up and running.

For those who don't know, 105.3 shared a tower with WRNO, WNOE, and WLAE-TV in Chalmette. Obviously, they suffered some pretty good damage. The radio stations have been running off a temporary tower at lower power. I don't know why 105.3 stayed with a simulcast of WWL when the other two stations went back to music. I guess they weren't worried about 'TIX-FM.

However, could the balance of oldie power shift? With Bob Walker back, and Sgt. T-Ben Boudreaux joining him starting Monday, that's a power duo right there. Angus Lind even wrote about it in today's T-P, which is the most newspaper coverage I think 'TIX-FM has ever got. With 'TIX-FM back at almost normal strength, and T-Ben armed with plenty of jokes for what's playing at the Adult Video sign*, it could be a possible power grab from Kool.

I do wish 'TIX-FM would make their jingles a little cleaner and up-to-date, IMO.

* There's just one problem with this... Katrina knocked out the Adult Video sign.<P ID="signature">______________

Yeah but they don't call it the "Big Sleazy" for nothing:) He'll find another sign somewheres:)

The WTIX-FM signal however is still not good in the Bayou area (cuts in and out where it was crystal clear before Katrina)

But it is nice to see them back together again however

Believe it or not, those jingles you here now on 'TIX are the classic ones they had at one time on "The Mighty 6-90," ('TIX-AM)! What I wanna know is how'd Mike get a hold of those original classic jingles AND at a sound quality that's pretty decent? He'd need rights to play 'em again and that's not the original 'TIX.

And from what I understand, the jingle companies usually don't release jingle packages to other stations if they weren't created for that particular station. But you are right my friend; they do indeed have a bit of "old" to them.

May sound like a stupid question but could they be new jingles made to sound like the old? or did he by some miracle made in N'Awlins' heaven get the originals? Cause to me they sounded like remakes IMO (and being remakes, it would give him the rights perse to use them?).. But I could be wrong...

That can be done. Jam productions in Dallas is making new PAMS jingles using the original 60's music beds. http://www.pams.com

I wish I could afford having some made for my Live365.com station!(see link below)

My guess is tapes of the original jingles were still stored in WTIX-AM tape library, or a DJ/Collector had them when they decided to re-use them for the oldies FM.

It sounds like that the only jingles that were sung for 'TIX-FM are the "94.3!" and "'TIX-FM!" ones. Every other one was taped from the old 690 days.

This is just IMO, but I would have gotten all new ones, but sung exactly in the style of the old ones. It would sound much cleaner and professional to do that than just use the old jingles and paste the new cuts over them.
