PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOWS

Are they LEGALLY required? If not, what amount of "public service" is? Would a handful of PSA's per quarter suffice?

If it is required, could someone point out the article in the FCC law.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, visit section 73.3526(a)(12) of the commissions rules. This is a big one if/when they come to inspect- they always look for your quarterly Issues/Programs List in the Public File. Big revenue generator for Uncle Sam.

I too was thinking a bunch of PSA's would work by my DC attorney shot that down. PSAs cant hurt of course but they are looking for some actual program that addresses the "issues" of the city of license, not necessarily the overall service area. I currently air "Florida Roundtable" Sunday mornings and am trying to get the local newspaper to come up with a half hour program directed more to our local area. If this is a big concern I would bounce it off your DC attorney for further guidance.
