Public File and studio office hours questions.

I've been looking over the FCC's web site and really can't find anything related to my question. So, I thought someone on here might know where it can be found. Our FCC attorney that we use in Washington, DC was telling me last year that a station must maintain 8 hours out of each weekday for office hours and those must be posted hours. This gives anyone access to your public file during those posted office hours.

How does this work for unattended operation for single stations? I know of several stations that run computer only and they just lock the doors and no one is ever there. So, does anyone know where on the FCC's web site this information can be found...their site is not very user friendly...just try looking up something.

I vote we just let Google run the FCC's web site and then it might be functional. ;D

Doctor_Techincal,

Thanks for the link to the public file information. Hopefully wiki will have something about the 'office hours' as well.

FCC site says Public File location should generally be at the main studio and available during regular business hours. I have heard of cases where stations had public files at local libraries, though I think that's been in the case of CP's.

Go to FCC site and search for "public file location".

In the case of a just granted, unbilt CP.. I've helped firends on with Public FIle stuff and one or two times, we placed it at the public library.
