PUBLIC FILE

Anyone ever present themselves at the receptionist at a radio station and ask to see the "Public File"?

FCC rules require all stations to maintain one showing among other things their programs that serve the public.

I think it'd be interesting to know what some of these local stations might have in there.

Rules also require not only that the station allows you access to the files, but a place in the station to sit down and go through them. I wonder just how accomodating stations really are.

Great idea! You are suppose to be able to view them during regular business hours defined as 8a-5p m-f, NOT THE stations guidelines for business hours. I wonder how small markets can get away with this considering most lock their doors for lunch hour?

File lookers can go to one station in Longview and the staff not only will give you a look-see at the file but also provide someone to bond with you. Truly a fulfilling day it would be.
