Public Radio Music Day

I had no idea. But I really love the idea:

Obviously this is just a proposal. The fact that it's just being introduced now with a couple months left in the legislative term isn't a good sign. But it's a nice idea. I know a lot of people for whom playing new music on public radio is their life's work. They deserve some appreciation.

I wish there was more public radio publicity like this, rather than constant defunding talk that when push comes to shove, never goes anywhere but still damages the public perception of public radio.

It’s purely symbolic, but I do LOVE anybody bringing attention to the multitude of wonderful non commercial options on the dial. Non commercial radio is basically all I listen to anymore, when I listen to the radio. My Spotify is great, but it needs ideas and it doesn’t do local stuff. My college station and NPR music affiliate are perfect compliments to Spotify, and both services are absolutely worth the relatively cheap amount I pay a month to keep them on the air and ad free.
