Pueblo KDZA 107.9

KDZA 107.9 oldies radio from Pueblo, Colorado has one of the best playlists I've heard in years, from an oldies station..They play just about anything from the 50's thru the 70's..even some 80's every so often.
I wish they would have themed weekends, considering the vast playlist they have to offer.
How about a 70's weekend, an A to Z weekend or even a number one hits weekend (all Billboard Hot 100 number ones chronologically, beginning in 1955 and going forward to, say 1985).

Just an idea!!

Yes, some of their songs actually sound sped up.."Brick House" is a perfect example.

KDZA has been a great oldies station for many years now. When I lived in the area, I favored it over the better signal of Colorado Springs' Oldies 92.9 KSPZ (which is gone now). If I recall correctly (which is questionable), weren't they once known as K-Right 108 (KRYT) before changing to KDZA during the early 90s? But they were a unique blend of oldies then too.

Glad to hear that KDZA has remained true to it's heritage!

I don't remember the name they used, but KDZA-FM was KRYT-FM probably around 1990. KDZA, I'm thinking, was 1230 before it became KKPC and was co-owned with KATM 100.7.

Switched format to Jet 107.9?? Same music possibly..60's to 80's. What happened to the DJ's??

Huge A-Z playlist beginning 5/27/08...should be a "trip" down memory lane!!

JET 107.9 doing a Top 70 of the 70's weekend, this Labor Day 2008. The top 70 songs of 1970, then 71, 72, 73..etc....Nice rarities here, stuff you haven't heard on the radio in years.

Keep up the great specialties KDZA. Ever since the A to Z, you guys have been putting on a show on weekends. :)

KDZA doing their music library in Z to A order beginning 11/24/08.

KDZA 107.9 is doing the Jet 500 beginning Thursday 2/26/09 at 9am.

Every Weekday at 12 Noon (local time), JET 107.9 (KDZA, Pueblo, Colorado) does the Countdown Garage, the Top 12 this week of a certain year, usually late 60's thru early 80's...very interesting and great to hear the "lost" oldies once again. Based on the Hot 100.

Jet 107.9 is history!! Now a Heavy Metal, rock station. Format switched sometime Sunday night. Colorado Springs no longer has a classic hits station. Peak FM 92.9 does play some 70's and 80's, but it is mixed with currents.

One and a half years for JET 107.9 (Feb '08 thru July '09). So much for the hoopla then!

Offspring, Tool, Alice n Chains ,Tom Petty The station is also running the imaging sweeper between songs “KDZA Rocks The Rockies.”

Interesting . Wonder how KILO is going to react? Will this new station hire local talent or go 'CC Premium Choice' ?

Imagine my shock when instead of waking up to oldies I end up with jabbering on my radio this morning, and then to find out all we have now is a KILO clone station. I want my oldies back! This was the last good station on the radio that you could actually listen to good music. Sorry you felt that you had to change and sorry, but you have lost a long time listener.

Oldrocker...so...did you come on board when it was JET or were you a listener during the 'real oldies" that KDZA played? I'm sure there were a bunch of people that were ticked when the "oldies" of KDZA gave way to the "classic hits" of Jet.

BTW...not really a KILO clone...this station plays some of the same stuff...but has a bit more music attitude. Jet was making some inroads with the ratings WHEN they were advertising on TV...remember the ads with the guy who made his own t-shirt? The numbers were moving upward...but then they stopped advertising for the station and the ratings fell back down.

I am sure that Clear Channel knows what they are doing here...they are going after KILO...and if they can take a few ratings points away in the process...one of their other stations will then be #1.

There is rumor on another radio board that HOT 95.5 will flip to the classic hits format the was just blown up...we'll have to see on that one.
