Pugs arrested last week

Either I totally missed this in the post, or all of the P&K bashers missed a great opportunity.

Pugs was arrested for DUI coming home from the company holiday party (no legal liability there on Infinity for over-serving?). And in talking about it on-air the next day with Pugs, Valerie (calling in from an appearance) ignored their frequent requests to stop mid-sentence when she was saying that it didn't surprise her and that everyone's driven too drunk to drive and just gotten lucky.

Well, who actually listens to comment on it? Is Infinity responsible? No. Pugs volunteered to drink, nobody forced him. Will Infinity punish Pugs or Valerie for mentioning it? Again no. Pathetic? Hell yes! They should change the logo from "Free 105.3" to "Dysfucntional 105.3".

If Pugs had injured someone or caused damage to something, you bet Infinity would be vulnerable legally. An ambulance chaser's dream case.

Did Infinity provide free drinks?

Either way, Infinity should get on the air - right now - and apologize for putting a lot of drunk drivers on Dallas roads! I have to share the road with these idiots that think they can handle a drink or two - and then get on the road. You bet I would sue if one hit me! Heck - even sober Dallas drivers suck: they violate the posted limit, don't use their blinker to indicate lane changes, and weave in and out irresponsibly. Add alcohol to that mix and you get a deadly combination.

A public relations nightmare. A "dj" from the "Howard Stern" station gets lit and hits the roads after the company Christmas party. Are you kidding me? A Bible Belt jury wouldn't need 5 seconds to make a decision on this one. If there HAD been property damage or injuries, this would be national news.

And all the news stories would read, "CBS Radio's KLLI..." or "CBS Radio's Free FM in Dallas." What a perfect way to begin the rebranding of Infinity.

3 drink tickets for a 5 hour party. If a 200 lb man was over-served, it was his own doing. BTW, he was charged with suspicion of DUI, which does not mean he was driving drunk. It means he declined to submit to a field test. He went on the air and described the unpleasant experience that "suspicion of DUI" can become. But Americans everywhere appreciate the fact that you have not only convicted him based on rumor, but are going so far as to demand an apology from his employer.

> BTW, he was charged with

I am sure that he carefully tested his blood alcohol level, found it to be barely within the legal limit before he got behind the wheel. I am also sure that his own personal safety, and the safety of innocent people on the road with him was his only concern in climbing behind the wheel of his car.

Americans everywhere are sick of whole families killed by jerks that get on the road drunk - thinking they are "man" enough to handle 3 drinks in 5 hours. After all, they can swerve their SUV's in and out of line on the freeway over the speed limit to gain a millisecond or two sober - of course they can do it after having a few drinks.

Yes - I think an apology on the part of Infinity WOULD be in order. If you have ever been on the freeway late at night and had one of these jerks roar around you on the shoulder at 100 miles per hour - and your family is in the car with you - you get really angry at whatever establishment (or business) didn't put a stop to it before it got started. There are cab services, a new service that even drives your car home for you. If you are going to drink, think of your fellow man instead of being a selfish little baby that whines that your civil liberties are violated because you can't drive just a little bit under the influence.

What a great way to celebrate the birth of the savior of mankind, by getting rip-roaring drunk. Somehow - I doubt Jody Dean was participating in such nonsense at the Infinity party. And if I owned a business - I would care enough about my employees, their families, and others on the road to not serve a single drop of alcohol at the party. If less people came, so be it. Let alone face the legal consequences if somebody drove home drunk from the party and took out a whole busload of girl scouts coming back from a camp or something.

Well your post speaks volumes. Particularly that you are a moron. As much as it would entertain us all to detail the many things wrong with the above statement, I will leave it to our fellow posters to dissect your idiocy themselves.

Wait a sec,"Suspicion of DUI",and he talks about it on the air? He basically admitted the offense. Why would the officer pull him over, unless he was driving in a suspicous manner? Expired tag? Speeding? He was stopped after a party. He was ticketed for signs of intoxication. The "rumour" appears to be well founded.

I rarely agree with Bruce, but Charlie he is right on this one. Why is there a need to get drunk at a CHRISTMAS PARTY? Because its the cool thing to do and one hopes to get laid? Ever know of a person being hit by a drunk driver that was killed or disabled? Sorry Bubba I have known quite a few some by their own hand, some by somebody leaving a party. So don't turn the subject around on Bruce or myself. He was irresponsible drivng after a "few" drinks, which often turn out to be several.

my point is that 3 drinks in 5 hours cant get a 200 lb man above to the legal limit. the body processes a drink per hour, so the BAL of everyone who went along with the format of the party should have been at or near a .0. I am sure the math there is confusing to all the girl scout troupes returning from camp to McKinney Ave at 11 pm on a Wednesday night.

I'm not sure anyone has established if he had a few or no drinks and was dealing with an overzealous officer (who perhaps heard him say X-mas party and got out the cuffs) or if he indeed did something inappropriate. My point is nobody here knows what happened. That is why a judge will review the evidence and give a ruling. At which point appropriate action will be taken. Until such time, I hope the rest of you enjoy your stay in Salem.

I am in no way advocating drunk driving and firmly believe that everyone who is drinking should walk, take a cab, or use a designated driver. Anyone who does drive under the influence should be thrown in Lake Lewisville. If they float they are guilty. If they sink, then they were sober.

I'm surprised someone hasn't let a MADD chapter in D/FW know about this. i am sure they would be all over it.

....how many people 'go along' with the 'format' of the party?
How many people were there for the full 5 hours or did some folks
show up fashionably late and want to get their '3 free' drinks in
before leaving in just 2 hours time?

By the way, the party was on McKinney Avenue but the attendees live
in various parts of the metroplex so the girl scout troup didn't have
to be down on McKinney.

....if I were pulled over for 'suspicion' of drunk driving, I
would gladly take the test so that I could prove an 'over zealous
officer wrong. I love these folks who refuse the test because it
is some how infringing on 'their rights'. Now 'our rights' will
be infringed upon when our tax dollars go towards paying for the
court costs involved on something that could have been avoided -
either by not getting behind the wheel after even ONE drink or by
admitting fault and handling this outside of court.

Sorry Charlie, it's not about Salem, it's about responsibility.

Would I say im surprised at this situation, not really. Do I think Infinity (Soon to be CBS Radio) should make a public apology for this guy being a moron?,no way. Porky drank, he got caught behind the wheel DUI, its his backside on the fire.

I think - the only ones that would call me a "moron" for speaking out about drunk driving would be Jim Adler and Brian Longcar, who would gladly take any emplorer for every last dollar for having a drunken bash and unleasing its drunk employees on the streets.
