Pulled in Fall

The edited version of Curb made for syndication just wasn't good because it was too censored, so no surprise here.

HBO= syndication= failure

Even shows produced by HBO for the regular networks flopped in syndication -- one example was the Fox series "Roc", which lasted a few years on that network, but lasted a year at most in syndicated reruns.

Of course, there's "The Sopranos", whose reruns are still on every day on A&E, but I never bother to watch it, as it is a censored version.

Unless WGN-TV decides to add another half hour to air According to Jim or Two and a Half Men, then they might add an extra hour of infomercials. Both shows are on between 11pm & 1am (don't remember which times each show is in). WGN-TV could always add another showing of Rachel Ray. I don't know what they would otherwise show in place of Entourage & Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Seems like WGN America is available through TWC in New York now. Maybe they'll expand to creating their own original programming by creating the more traditional cable channel setup.

WGN America is not available on cable in the Chicago market, but it is for those who have DirecTV & Dish Network. My post was for WGN-TV.

Here are some more shows that will leave syndication this fall:

1. Are you smarter than a 5th grader? (see note A)
2. Don't Forget The Lyrics (see note A)
3. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (see note B)
4. The Oprah Winfrey Show (which was expected)

A. These two shows also aired Tuesday nights on My Network TV. The former is expected to repeat on the Hub cable channel. 'Tis unknown what My Network TV will air on Tuesday nights.
B. Criminal Intent, which SVU replaced in syndicated repeats, is expected to return this fall

Probably goes back the days when WGN was a real superstation. What about Chicago U-verse customers?

Yeah your right law and order svu leaves weekday syndication to be replaced by a two hour block of law and order ci also the mothership law and order starts airing in weekend syndication this fall it looks like tv stations are struggling to find programming.

I checked, both the AT&T UVerse website, & WGN America, & it's not available on UVerse either. Only those with Dish Network & DirecTV can get it in Chicago. It's also available to those who have a C-Band satellite Channel G5-13 (the way it's listed from the WGN America website).

It was once speculated that SVU would replace CI on My Network TV Monday nights, although the network officially hasn't unveiled it's Fall 2011 schedule yet. Of course, Warner Bros. still offers one syndicated repeat of Without A Trace as well as occupying Thursday night, so maybe CI could stay where it is AND air weekdays!

Martin Lawrence's sitcom on Fox was fairly successful in syndication, albeit never a ratings juggernaut; it's been in off-network syndication since it left the network in '97. I still watch it from time to time, usually on TVOne (they have the network edits) rather than now on MTV2 (the syndication edits). Tales From the Crypt into reruns on Fox's Saturday late-night lineup in the mid-90s (if I remember correctly, it aired after MadTV) just prior to going into off-net syndication. Like you mentioned with other HBO-produced shows, Tales only lasted a season or two in broadcast syndication.

I think what killed these shows was not just the obsessive censoring but they were thrown in crappy early am time slots on CW and My affiliates and as is the case with Curb many episodes were recycled every other week like "The Pants Tent" episode. Luckily, the station that shows Entourage and Curb in my market WFNA CW in Mobile/Pensacola shows both at 10 and 10:30pm CT respectively. I just became a new fan to Curb because of this and now I'll have to buy the DVD sets.

With Freinds moving to Nick at Nite either this fall or early next year will they leave syndication? Im also wondering how long Everybody Hates Chris will last? Most former UPN sitcoms only last in syndication up to 3 years The Parkers, Girlfriends, One On One etc.... I know My Wife and Kids started a new cycle last year moving to other stations. Please tell me they cancelled Swift Justice and Muary aka (You Are The Father)
