Pulse 87.7??

I thought the Star and Buc Wild Show will debut January 15, 2008? Not only are they not on the air but 87.7 is still broadcasting in Russian. Does anyone have a date on when the format will flip?

Try banging you radio once or twice. That might fix the Russian problem you are having. :)

Or Feb. 4th is probably when the money from the brokered Russian format dries out...

Unless someone walks in with a suitcase full of cash...then maybe March 4th.

Yesterday at lunch time on 44th street near 5th and 6 avenues someone from Pulse was interviewing with their video camera on the street. I thought it was a little odd because I know Star and Buc Wild suppose to be coming to Pulse. I wonder what that was all about.

87.7 should stream, as they are weaker than the other New York stations. The only office they'll be heard in is Citigroup if they don't stream.

Their signal is pretty funny. A couple of days ago I was driving upstate, and I was able to carry 87.7 well past Middletown and into Pine Bush, almost at the same strength as the other Empire State Building signals. Sometime around Pine Bush, the signal began to die, but came back again for a short time in higher elevations facing NYC. There was no strange tropo event going on, so I was amazed at how far the signal was able to carry.

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, because I think an LP-TV station masquerading as a radio station is a brilliant idea. HOWEVER, I have two more questions: 1) I have a factory-installed radio in my Ford that has 87.7 FM as its lowest frequency, but the Pioneer radio in my other car starts at 87.9FM. Ditto for the Kenwood tuner in my house. Can a significant percentage of FM radios even pick up 87.7FM? 2) I've listened to channel 6 on 87.7FM in several markets, but the signal on my radio is always in mono. Will Pulse's signal be in stereo?

It seems that mostly Kenwood and Pioneer tuners begin at 87.9. Every car radio, walkman, and home stereo I've personally ever come in contact with starts at 87.7 or even 87.5, so for most people, it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, they are using regular FM modulation, not TV modulation, so the signal will be (and currently, on the Russian broadcaster occupying 87.7, is) in stereo.

Great info, thanks neo11. I'm on the Left Coast so I hope they stream!
