Pulse 87 coming back

Hey guys: I just tried their 128k stream and it works! Sounds awesome. Try it- http://wms-11.streamsrus.com/pulse128k Since they don't have a iphone app yet, I added to the pocket tunes app and it sounds great. Glad to have you back Pulse 87.

Ok so i downloaded the pocket tunes and yes i could hear it there.But what about Party FM do u have a link for that?

Mmm, bitrate is higher but the sound quality is the same as the 64 kbps stream. Lot's of overshoots en clipping in the sound. I think there is no processing on these stream or a little less. I hope they tweak it, that may sounds better.

And I don't see any web-casters doing local and live programming.

Every music web-only "station" I've found is just that. Automated music. You're lucky if it's voice-tracked.

Good if you want background music (until the stream shuts down after an hour or so of "inactivity" - maybe a day if you're lucky).

But for reliability and live, local programming and news/sports? I'll stick with my AM and FM radios. They don't crash and/or, "buffer", "lose connectivity" or "run out of bandwith".

Listen to the station I'm involved with, Urban Latino Radio.

On my show, I do speak LIVE on the air, not just the music. Even though I do realize the "world" can tune in, I tend to give the show a "New York" flavor. You also have other shows on the station that are live and lean on NYC. The station is mainly in English so you don't have to know Spanish to tune in.

Okay, done with the selfless promotion here :)

The link for pulse 87 is not working on pocket tunes anymore. Anyone have another link for the pocket tunes?

There are plenty of internet stations that are live. What kind of "local" programming does one do when the world is you audience?

Nothing wrong with the AM/FM's of the world but when you can't get the type of programming that you want from them the alternative now are much better than they were 10 years ago.

At least now people won't complain about the static or radios not tuning down to 87.7.

Very true. Have to admit, true.

The biggest thing I'm hearing now is how they want Pulse back on the FM. What if ANOTHER station came up on the FM that wasn't Pulse? Would people moan and whine on that because the station isn't Pulse? Even if this station had NO hip-hop in there?

As it is, people are clamoring for the return of Pulse 87 on the FM. I see it on the FB posts. If it happens, fine, but just thinking on other aspects.
 
This might seem crazy coming from the second biggest Pulse 87 fan (Tony, you're #1), but after listening to an Internet dance station almost exclusively for several months since Pulse went bankrupt, I seem to prefer the sound of that Internet station better than Pulse 87. Less repetition, not as many pop remixes, and the stream is 128k.

The best thing I liked about Pulse 87 was that it was an FM station with live DJs around the clock that I felt like I had a connection with because they were live and local. I also liked the commercials (save for the Thicker and Wider spots) and the club appearances.

I'm not saying that I don't like Pulse 87 as it is now, I'm saying that Pulse 87's appeal was more than the music. While we may not get an FM signal, everything else could be brought back to the Internet version of Pulse.
