Pulse 87 Saturday Night Dance Party

nd2023

Banned
When they say in the station promos that the Pulse 87 Saturday Night dance mixshow is "plugged directly into the DJ booth" at the club, I think it's literally true. Last Saturday, there was a 60 Hz hum in the audio that was noticeable.

I think this is the first live club broadcast in NYC. KTU used to have mixshows in the studio, and a completely different show from a club.

The 60 Hz hum on Pulse 87 gave it away, along with no commercials. There was the annoying 60 Hz hum all night that made it hard to enjoy the music. Someone better fix that ground loop.

Is that why the jocks talk so much during that show...to distract from the hum? Although they cover up the VOCALS OF SONGS a lot of the time, which is truly irritating.

The broadcast do indeed originate from the various clubs. The mixer in the DJ booth feeds an ISDN codec back to Pulse. Some clubs' sound systems (and AC power) are cleaner then others, and it's not always possible to get all noise out of the feeds, even though the the audio feed to the Pulse equipment is transformer isolated from the clubs gear.

Between what hours IS the Live Saturday Night Party? (I couldn't find it on the website)

10P - 2A saturday night into sunday morning.

I heard the last part of it last Saturday. I gotta say.... purely awesome. Now THAT is dedicated radio.

I dont mind the Jocks talking and hyping things up during the blending and transition of songs, but I hate it when its over the vocals,,, it cant always be helped though,,, the Jocks have things they are supposed to say, and dont have control over what the DJ plays or How long of a blend he gives them..

Z-1035 Toronto doesnt speak over the vocals much, but they have been doing live to air mixes since 1995,, Im sure pulse will work something out with the DJs about allowing more blending time to speak and promote.. give it some time. 8) Im sure they will fix the audio too... I hope they Network with Chicago, Washington, and LA when those stations hit the air,,, I hope they simulcast, but include mixes from each city and club.
