PULSE 87 TO EXPAND TO CHICAGO & L.A.

Pulse 87 New York (WNYZ-LP, 87.75 FM) will expand its dance music format (not mentioned if it will be a trimulcast) via Low Power TV Audio Channel 6/87.75 FM in the Chicago & L.A. markets, similar to the Pulse 87 setup. Target date for sign-on is June 1, 2009. Mega Media's press release below:

The stations would be KSFV-CA San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles (transmits from Mount Wilson, similar to other L.A. area FM stations) and WLFM-LP Rochelle/Chicago, which has an application pending to broadcast from the John Hancock Tower in downtown Chicago.

Thanks to Scott Fybush for the technical information.

I know somewhere Tony Santiago is smiling right now! :) ;D

Well, any expansion of the dance music format is a good thing for the music as a whole. Los Angeles and Chicago certainly make sense with both being dance music friendly markets and being markets number 2 & 3 respectively

So now there will be 3 Pulse 87's in the USA. It would be great to have each Pulse 87 locally programmed, but I can see some shows being syndicated.
Hopefully this will lead to a new slogan besides "New York's New Dance Music Leader" because there will be a "Chicago's New Dance Music Leader" too.
They should do the same with the 87.7 in Washington DC and Alaska.
Easiest way to raise revenue: Simulcast Pulse 87 NYC in Chicago and LA using an Internet stream, and sell local commercials in each market, as well as national commercials on all 3. Revenues will triple, the additional expenses will be rent for the stations and an office and sales/engineering/management staff in Chicago and LA. Promotion interns can be free. And expenses to fly people to Chicago and LA from New York.

In a year from now, Mega will be so cash-strapped, you'll hear the Brother Stair Overnight Sermon on the Pulse 87 "Network".
