Pulse 87

It certainly sounds like they're doing some sort of work in the studio or on the transmitter...the music (at the moment still Russian at 10:00 pm) is breaking in and out and the audio processing seems less dynamic than it was before. The signal also seems a bit weaker though it still comes in easily at home in Central Queens.

The signal doesn’t come in very well in the Kearny/Newark area. Driving north on Rt-21 the signal comes in stronger approaching Passaic and Paterson here in NJ.

Yep....they came on without much fanfare....Russian music fading out to silence, to an ID announcing that they are "broadcasting from the top of the big blue building in Queens...Pulse 87." They then ID'ed as WNYZ New York. Bob Sinclair's Everybody Dance Now remix came on first.

The audio quality is really, really good, IMO, and the signal is coming in strong in Queens.

Anyone recorded the changeover? Unfortunately I was not able to.

2nd song- dj antoine- this time!
their moniker seems to be "From the top top top of the blue building"
this is SO hot 97/103!!! THANK YOU JOEL!!!!!!!

OK so we went from Piece of me remix to Corina- Whispers....
i'm picking up the signal OK here in Nassau County...
Within 1 month's time we get party 1015 and now this!! anybody else goin bananas tonite???

Pulse 87 just took a shot at KTU...."Pulse 87....because this beat (cues up clip of disco tune heard on KTU often)...is really beat."

haha! I heard that and was lovin' it...though they're walking a fine line by playing Corina- Whispers!

And yet another shot at KTU..."You've been listening to KT-Who?? Get your finger on the pulse of New York...Pulse 87."

I love how aggressive their imaging is...so far the first 40 minutes have been more energetic than KTU has EVER been!
It's also funny how they've launched during the week when KTU celebrates their 12'th birthday!!

The station sounds promising!

Its nice to hear David Guetta, Ida Corr, Chris Lake on NYC radio!

I understand they have to appeal to the masses, hence the dance remixes of pop songs... but I hope they throw in more currents once they get the groove going. Im excited to hear what kind of mixshows they have in store.

Some cool lil liners.... "First on the Dial, First in New Music!" haha

I drove on 6th Ave from the Holland Tunnel area to about 59th Street. The signal gets blocked around 32nd - 38th street. Overall, the signal came in fine... Processing sounds better than the Russian station. I think it still may be a tad over compressed. If they lower the compression a tad, it would sound less muddy and a little more "brilliant" and sharp... it lacks some treble vs. the other stations...

But whatever, im not complaining... we dance fans will take what we can get... After years and years of waiting, I hope Pulse delivers what NYC has been deprived of... I hope the mixshows cater to all the varous genres of House...

Time to get the word out for the station!

Just got to work, and I was sampling it on the way in. I can't believe I actually heard Nightcrawlers "Push the Feeling On" on the radio! With all the dance fans clamoring, it looks like New Yorkers can hear dance from Manhattan to the Hamptons again (with Party 105's increased coverage). People in eastern Nassau will actually have two dance stations; that's great!

now this is what i call music!! i love it............ definitely music to move ya, especially sluggish, tired people like me.

i had to improvise with my antennas to make this thing come in, but so far, it's nice and clear in old bridge, nj on 87.75

in fact, they're playing september's newest, "can't get over"....

;D

I tried this new "station that isn't a station" for over an hour. Why is it that for the last 25 years modern dance music has allways been the same brainless, souless computer generated backing tracks fronted by generic nasal-voiced females?

As in all previous attempts it's a mook format and will have the same outcome.

This morning I've heard Filo & Peri's "Anthem", Justin Timberlake's "Lovestoned" to name a few... They're NOT female.

Dance music is aided greatly by computers, various electronics, etc.. hence why it's a dance/electronica format. Generic nasal-voiced females? LOL Tell that to Amber (who by the way, drops her new single This Is Your Night 2008 TODAY!!), Kristine W. Deborah Cox, September, Gioia. I think you'll find that not all of them sound digitized, computer generated or nasal.

Dance music has changed quite significantly in the past 25 yrs. It's not the same. The beats are different, the tracks are different, even the vocals. Things have come a long way since the mid-80's and freestyle explosion.

Quit hatin'!! Seriously. We've waited for this moment for a long time. This is not your KTU, this is not z-100, this is pure dance. Pulse is filling in a much needed void that KTU bailed on years ago.
