Purdue sells WBAA AM and FM to WFYI

Purdue says some staff will remain in Lafayette, but your contributions will go to WFYI. Via rsdioinsight:

Purdue University announced Thursday (July 1) that it has signed a letter of intent to enter an agreement for WBAA radio AM and FM to be operated by Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Media (MIPM), which currently operates WFYI.

Wow! If the State of Indiana is getting out of the broadcasting business, are WFIU/WTIU Bloomington next?

I found the terms of the WBAA sale announced today interesting; perhaps even a chance that Purdue could "take back" the licenses if MIPM fails to live up to their end of the deal. Certainly MIPM will probably want to find a way to use the WBAA music library in the Indianapolis market; maybe simulcast WBAA-FM as WFYI-HD2 ?
